The new Bose headphones (PR)

Nearly three years ago, Bose introduced its first wireless (True Wireless) headset - SoundSport Free Wireless.

These headphones were of course designed for sports, the company recently launched two new models: Sport Earbuds and also its first cordless headphones, designed for listening to music in daily use with active noise filtering (ANC) technology.

Great thinking in the design of the headphones

Even before I write about the design of the headphones, I must refer to the huge design of the carrying case of the QC Earbuds.

This is a case made of hard plastic, which may have been built with the aim of optimally protecting the headphones (in case they fall from a really tall building or something), but is unpleasant or sometimes possible to put in your pants pocket.

Which is nice in the case, which is magnetic and the headphones sit in it stably.

In the design of the headphones themselves there was more thinking, these are slightly larger headphones, but ones that sit wonderfully in the ears.

They are comfortable, lightweight and thanks to the special design of the soft silicone adapters, they are also pleasant.

The silicone adapters are called StayHear Max and they come in three sizes and a flat design, which includes an edge in an umbrella structure (a slightly more open design than other silicone adapters).

This structure was created with the aim of creating acoustic insulation.

On the other side of the adapter, there is a soft fin, which catches the headphones well on the ears and also prevents pressure.

Although Bose has launched a sports model alongside the QC Earbuds, this model includes exactly the same water protection - IPX4, which allows them to be used in the rain.

I see no problem going out to practice with these headphones, especially since they already have really stable and comfortable silicone adapters.

Touchpad for controlling headphones and smart sensors

The QC Earbuds feature a touch pad, which because of their relatively large and flat structure, is very convenient to use.

A double touch on the right earpiece activates / stops the playing song or allows you to answer / end a call.

A long press jumps up the smartphone's voice assistant.

The left headset allows you to switch between the preferred settings and the active noise filter, while a long press provides access to the user's preferred option, choosing from two options: moving a song forward or listening to the battery mode.

The setting for this selection is performed from the Bose Music app.

It bothered me that it is not possible to select the volume control and also to go backwards in the playing song, for me it is better than a button that provides a voice indication on the battery status.

Maybe Bose will improve this option in the future by updating a version.

QC EarBuds have sensors that allow them to detect their insertion into the ears.

Which means the song will stop as soon as the earpiece is removed from the ears and will start playing again when returned to the ears.

The sensors do not miss and do not cause the headphones to return to the player when they are placed on the table (a problem I encountered with models from other manufacturers).

Another nice option that the sensors allow, is beyond awareness of the external environment, when one headset is removed from the ear.

Which means that at that moment, the right or left earpiece (the one left in the ears), will turn off the active noise filtering, so that you can most clearly hear the external environment, without feeling that the earpiece seals the ear.

6 hours listening time and wireless charging

We have reached the most important part - the sound quality that QC Earbuds provide.

First of all, Bose has combined Bluetooth 5.1 with an acoustic structure that helps create the low notes.

To deliver the successful bass, Bose used an internal equalizer that helps the low and high tones sound good, even when listening to low volume music.

The sound itself is crispy, sharp, balanced and clear, even at high intensities.

In terms of active noise filtering, I was not disappointed, the headphones managed to muffle static and monotonous noises well and they also hardly created any air pressure in the ears.

People's speeches sounded good and almost unfiltered.

Once you play music, you feel it less.

Bose offers through the app to determine the active noise filtering volume and also to determine excess levels for a quick transition through touch in the left earpiece.

Calls: Bose says the QC Earbuds are designed for phone calls, with the right earpiece having a dedicated microphone that picks up the user's voice and filters out background noise.

I made calls with the headphones on a noisy street and indeed the headphones managed to focus on my voice and slightly muffle the background noises of the vehicles, even though it still exists, but as something in the background.

Of course in quieter places, the quality of the conversations is even more successful and I have not had any complaints with people I have talked to.

The headphones offer a respectable battery time of 6 hours, while together with the carrying case you get 18 hours of listening.

Bose offers a fast 15-minute charge that provides 2 hours of music.

In addition, the carrying case includes a USB-C charging connector, wireless charging which is generally great and an indication using 5 bulbs on the battery status.

Rough design, but excellent audio quality

Bottom line, Bose's QuietComfort EarBuds offer great sound, active noise filtering that works well and comfortable and stable silicone adapters.

On the other hand, these are large and prominent headphones, their case is huge and the price itself is high.

Price: NIS 1,390 (official Newpan importer).
