As part of the IDF's war on road accidents caused by the use of a cell phone while driving, the first Saverone system was installed in a military vehicle yesterday (Tuesday), as part of a pilot in which about 30 such systems will be installed.

The Saverone system prevents the driver from using the cell phone while driving. In navigation and listening to music.Once the driver receives a Whatsapp message, the system sends the sender a message that the driver is currently driving, and he is welcome to call. The system is not turned off by the driver, and only affects the driver's driving area, while other passengers can use their mobile phone as usual.

Because the system affects the driver area of the vehicle and not the mobile phone, the driver cannot "cheat" the system by using another phone, and he will be able to read the WhatsApp messages received while driving or send new messages only when he has finished driving.

Lt. Col. Yossi Ben Simhon, head of the IDF's Road Safety Branch, who is leading the project on behalf of the army, stated that, "The IDF is working in every way to combat road accidents, and one of the main ways is to invest in vehicle safety technologies.

The IDF has begun installing the Saverone system as part of the pilot, and will install this system in all vehicles during a multi-year program, a move that will support the declining trend in the number of road accidents in the IDF.

Uri Gilboa, CEO of Saverone: "A major part of road accidents today are caused as a result of using life-threatening applications on smartphones, with an emphasis on WhatsApp, or surfing the Internet while driving.

Although most drivers are aware of the dangers of using a mobile phone, and despite attempts at enforcement - we do not have the ability to disconnect from the mobile while driving.

Therefore, a solution is required that will prevent the ability to use the mobile phone - automatically.

The Saverone system provides a perfect solution to the problem of using a mobile phone while driving.

We are proud that the IDF, which is leading the fight against road accidents, chose Saverone and I thank him for the trust he has placed in us.

I believe that the system will save many lives in the IDF and in the country.
