As part of the IDF's war on road accidents caused by the use of a cell phone while driving, the first Saverone system was installed in a military vehicle yesterday (Tuesday), as part of a pilot in which about 30 such systems will be installed.

Because the system affects the driver area of the vehicle and not the mobile phone, the driver cannot "cheat" the system by using another phone, and he will be able to read the WhatsApp messages received while driving or send new messages only when he has finished driving.
Lt. Col. Yossi Ben Simhon, head of the IDF's Road Safety Branch, who is leading the project on behalf of the army, stated that, "The IDF is working in every way to combat road accidents, and one of the main ways is to invest in vehicle safety technologies.
The IDF has begun installing the Saverone system as part of the pilot, and will install this system in all vehicles during a multi-year program, a move that will support the declining trend in the number of road accidents in the IDF.
