Fifteen years of criminal imprisonment were required this Thursday, December 3 against Joël Le Scouarnec, 70, who has been appearing since Monday behind closed doors in Saintes (Charente-Maritime) to respond to charges of rape and sexual assault on four underage girls in the time of the facts.
The Advocate General also requested ten years of socio-judicial monitoring.
The accused faces a maximum sentence of 20 years.
The verdict of the Charente-Maritime Assize Court must be delivered in the evening.
In another part of this sordid case, Joël Le Scouarnec is indicted for the assaults and rapes of more than 300 victims over 30 years, facts allegedly discovered in scrupulously recorded writings, discovered at his home in 2017.
Confessions at the hearing
The trial was marked by a dramatic turn on Wednesday when the former digestive surgeon admitted rapes on some of the victims, which he had coldly denied from the start of the case and during the first hearings.
Confronted Wednesday with the eldest of his two nieces whom he had attacked, he admitted to having raped them.
Now aged 30 and 35, Helena and Aurélie (the names have been changed) had been photographed by their uncle.
The day before, Tuesday evening, he had already taken a step by acknowledging the abuse of three former victims in the 1980s, and who are attending the trial.
Confessions, however, without consequences: their cases had been dismissed at the stage of the investigation because prescribed.
This is what makes the victims' lawyers say that far from showing a little humanity and repentance, the accused instead leads a cynical and manipulative defense strategy.

"We have this notion of a chess player, Joël le Scouarnec knows the stakes and that by contesting this fact, he does not assume what happened", pointed out the Advocate General during his requisitions.
