"The Source: The Children of Daniel Ambash's Sect" (Network 13)

I have tried to write here again and again what accusations Daniel Ambash's children have thrown at their father - but I can not.

These are too horrible things, things that have no remedy, that the browser does not tolerate either, and it is doubtful whether the TV screen does.

One by one, some of the children - eloquent, brave, impressive, well aware of the seriousness and meaning of things - stood in front of the camera of Israel Rosner and Guy Austinsky ("The Source", Network 13) and painted a monstrous picture of life in the shadow of their so-called father, biological or effort.

Without the dry details it is still impossible: Ambash, a Breslav follower, was known as the leader of the so-called "Jerusalem sect", married several women and raised their children from their previous marriages, and also gave birth to new children with them.

About seven years ago he was convicted of sexually abusing and holding women and minors in slavery conditions, and sentenced to 26 years in prison.

With respect to the acts described in the investigation, after watching its first part, it seems almost like a lenient punishment.

Rosner has previously dealt with the affair, and now he describes in detail a real nightmarish mask - through the eyes of the children.

If some desire creeps into the heart to believe that this is just a strange family with an alternative lifestyle, the hard evidence that emerges in the investigation completely refutes it and leaves the viewer speechless.

Without degenerating into a legal conversation - it is not the religious nature of the family that is at stake here, but physical and mental violence directed at the immediate environment.

The murder was shocking.

The film they made about it is rocking, and what happened after the screening - I will never forget

26 years in prison is too little.

It hurts especially: for these children - now young people trying to build their lives from scratch - there was no external framework to absorb if something went wrong, to try to understand what they were going through.

Even little communication with the authorities has often failed to identify the magnitude of the threat.

The transmitter also points an accusing finger at them: how it all happened for years without anyone stopping it.

Some of the blame is also directed at us, the viewers, ordinary citizens who turn a blind eye to what might happen closer than we would like to believe - especially in an age of social distance and indescribable burden on welfare authorities.

To some extent, this broadcaster also includes an indictment, secondary in importance, also towards the press.

Both Reno Tzurur, who dealt with the affair in the past and was interviewed by Rosner, and Raviv Drucker himself at the beginning and end of the broadcast - confess with remarkable sincerity that they also bought the show that Ambash sold them at times.

This is a double lesson: even experienced journalists can fall into the trap, so we should be careful before we raise an eyebrow at the women and men who followed in the man's footsteps, believed him and were his victims.

Thus the events escalate from the beginning of the broadcast to the end, like an unstoppable vortex - and the result is professional but difficult to watch.

The first part of the investigation was shaky.

In the second part that will air next week and bring the end of the story, I do not intend to even try to watch.
