2021-01-06T13:19:43.613Z

While waiting to carry out its own count, the government relies on Guillaume Rozier, a 24-year-old computer engineer, whose site has reached several thousand visits.

After the tests, the vaccines.

How many people have already received the famous injection in France?

The question arises at a time when the French vaccine strategy is being criticized for its slowness.

However, despite the promise of a daily report, it is difficult to answer them precisely, for lack of official figures.

It is to solve this problem that Guillaume Rozier, a 24-year-old computer engineer, launched “Vaccin Tracker”.

How? 'Or' What ?

By collecting all the data around the number of doses administered since the first vaccination, de Mauricette, on December 27.

He then presents them in the form of graphs "

so that a large number of people can understand the evolution of the vaccination campaign in France

", explains the young

data scientist.

which is not his first attempt.

Ten months ago, he set up the CovidTracker site to analyze the figures for the epidemic.

A job that generated several million page views in a few weeks.

From the number of people hospitalized to the vaccines administered

“I never had the ambition to create a website that would generate millions of views,”

says

Figaro

Guillaume Rozier.

Launched in this adventure last April while he was on an internship, he simply wanted to understand the health situation in France based on the figures of patients, hospitalizations and deaths.

Thus was born a first graphic, then another, “

and people asked me to continue

”.

A few months later, when the vaccination campaign began with difficulty in France, he noticed that no official figure was available.

He therefore begins

"to leaf through the local press articles reporting a few dozen vaccinations in such nursing homes, then another

".

A painstaking job for the young man who does this work voluntarily, outside of these working hours.

More and more people are visiting his site and the media are sharing his figures.

In addition to this unexpected success, Guillaume Rozier received a phone call from the office of the Minister of Health on December 30.

He was invited to a meeting to present to him the vaccination strategy in France and the difficulties encountered by the health authorities: "

They explained to me that the figures which they are recovering in small amounts were hardly going up on their side

.

Asked by

Le Figaro

, the Ministry of Health explains that the data is first collected at the level of the ARS and then collected by Public Health France.

Vaccination monitoring is ensured from the SI-Vaccin-covid database and "

fed by health professionals and finally administered by Health Insurance

".

Six days later, it was Olivier Véran himself who contacted him

"to congratulate him on his initiative and to explain to him the different issues of

Si-Vaccin-Covid

"

.

Since then, he says he receives an SMS every day from the ministerial office with the number of vaccinations carried out in France.

Information neither confirmed nor denied by the ministry.

However, the young man wishes to clarify that he remains entirely independent and presents the data as he sees fit.

Proud of this freedom, he wishes to keep this creativity to "

make the figures more readable

" and participate in his own way in the fight against the epidemic.
