The Central Bank had announced a new measure that directly affects a good part of the cars that are imported into our market.

It is an impediment to accessing the official dollar for the entry of

"luxury goods"

, including premium cars.

Initially, it was not known exactly what type of vehicles the circular issued by the Central Bank mentioned, since in Argentina there are already tax scales that are levied on luxury cars, or at least that was the initial purpose, which later, With the 0km price increases, it ended up reaching a large number of mid-range models.

The truth is that it was later specified that the new regulation would cover models that have a FOB price (

, that is, before a series of expenses that includes the transfer maritime and prior to the application of import duties and national taxes.

Car brands, whether they are based in the country or are represented by importers, access the Central Bank's exchange market to make

According to the taxes that motor vehicles receive in our country, this amount must be multiplied by approximately 3.5, since with that FOB value it is reached by the second scale of internal tax (previously known as "luxury tax).

Although it is a high sum and does not represent the bulk of the sale of new models in our market, it hits squarely with the high-end brands.

But other fears also arise in the face of this new regulation.

There are some market players who believe that this measure could later be applied to models whose FOB value is lower than $ 35,000.

The other issue is that since the models reached by the new restriction would raise their price even more, those that are just below would have room to increase.
