Fatigue or muscle weakness are the most common symptoms.

Sleep disorders, anxiety or depression have also been observed, according to the study, published in the journal The Lancet, including more than a thousand patients from the Chinese city of Wuhan.

The Covid-19 pandemic is intensifying almost everywhere on the planet, with new contaminations records in Great Britain or the United States.

Over seven days, 658,100 new cases were recorded on average worldwide every 24 hours, 14% more than the previous week, according to an AFP report.

The increase is 21% in the United States / Canada, 19% on the African continent, 16% in Latin America / Caribbean, 12% in the Middle East and 8% in Europe.

One death every 15 minutes

The rapid spread of new variants of the more contagious coronavirus is worrying.

Especially since the vaccines, designed in record time, are still not deployed on a large scale.

The World Health Organization (WHO) in this regard called on Friday January 8 for greater vaccine solidarity in the fight against Covid-19 and asked rich countries to stop concluding "

bilateral agreements

" with pharmaceutical companies .

At least one encouraging sign has been noted: with the right syringes, it would be possible to extract six doses per vial of Pfizer / BioNTech, compared to the current five, thereby increasing the capacity to use the vaccines already ordered, according to the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

Since the appearance of the new coronavirus in China more than a year ago, nearly two million people have died out of 87 million confirmed cases.

In the United States, where the epidemic is racing with 289,381 contaminations recorded in 24 hours and 3,676 deaths, hospitals in California are overwhelmed by corpses.

In Los Angeles for example, a person dies from Covid-19 every fifteen minutes.
