Car manufacturer Daimler has to recall the first copies of the new Mercedes S-Class because of a possible safety risk.
About 1,400 vehicles that are already in the hands of customers are affected worldwide, said a spokesman.
The "Business Insider" had previously reported on it.
There is a possibility that the wrong inner tie rods have been installed on the steering, the screw connections of which could therefore be overly stressed in the long run.
Ultimately, the steering of the vehicle could be impaired and there could be an increased risk of an accident.
The vehicles should now be checked and the tie rods replaced if necessary.
Daimler had only presented its new flagship last September.
The seventh generation of the luxury sedan is an important image carrier and one of the most profitable models of the Swabians.
Mercedes-Benz always emphasizes that it places the highest safety demands on vehicle technology.
At more than 40,000, the number of orders is, according to Daimler, higher than the level reached by the previous model when the model was launched.
