"
New measures
" are necessary to stem the Covid-19 epidemic, said Wednesday the director of the regional health agency (ARS) of Île-de-France, Aurélien Rousseau, stressing "
the impact of the holidays
End of year and the risk of the “
multiplier effect
” of the English variant.
"
It is sure that new measures will have to be taken
," he said on
RMC
and
BFMTV
, while a new health defense council was held Wednesday morning at the Elysee.

The boss of the ARS Ile-de-France was worried about the rebound of the epidemic in his region: “
for a week, we have taken around forty points of incidence, we have again reached nearly 200 (positive cases) for 100,000 (inhabitants)
”, threshold beyond which the curfew could be brought forward from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The incidence rate reached 185 in the latest report released by the ARS on Tuesday evening, against 133 a week earlier.
"
It means that there is indeed an impact of the holidays
", estimated Aurélien Rousseau, recalling that the level of occupation of the intensive care units was "
stable for several weeks
", with half of the beds occupied by patients of the Covid-19.
"
We cannot lower this figure,
" he insisted, adding that "
if we have a rebound, we start from very high
".
In these circumstances, the spread of the English variant, which is more contagious, is particularly feared: if this strain "
becomes a kind of relay, it will have a multiplier effect
".
To date, the ARS has identified "
11 confirmed cases
", including 9 for which "
we consider that the episode is closed, we understand who had contaminated, we have limited the chains of contamination
", he said. precise.
But “
the investigation is still underway
” for two other cases, including the school leader in Bagneux (Hauts-de-Seine), for whom “
we still have not understood by whom she had been contaminated
”.
The agency also counts "
about forty cases
" suspected "
on which there is a discrepancy in the samples
".
The people concerned are treated "
exactly as if they had the variant
" and put in isolation, as well as their contacts, assured Aurélien Rousseau.
