In the beginning was the original CJ, the icon who started it all.

In 1974, the first Jeep Cherokee was introduced, a cubic and charismatic vehicle.

It gave up a ladder chassis but maintained two live axles, a very unique configuration.

In 1993, Jeep introduced the first Grand Cherokee, and today we meet the fifth generation - this is the new "Grand Cherokee L", a large and luxurious urban SUV, intended mainly for suburban travelers - families with many children, business people, And lovers of leisure culture.

The L is supposed to give an answer to competitors like Ford Expedition, GMC Tahoe, Kia Tloireid, and others.

The third row of seats is very important in the US, and the L should fill in the gaps.

The current 'Grand' will continue to be sold until 2022 and then will be replaced by an abbreviated version of the L, which we tell you about today.

The Grand Cherokee L is a very large vehicle - it is 30 centimeters longer than the current Grand, 2 centimeters wider, 5 centimeters higher, and its wheelbase is 18 centimeters longer.

This volume leaves room for three rows of seats with arrangement for six or seven seats.

Symbol intends to bring the L to the country towards the end of 2021, although there is currently no information on instrumentation and price levels;

Prices can be expected around NIS 450-500 or more.

For this amount you will get a vehicle full of modern safety technologies, communication and fine sound.

The composition is impressive and large, it is evident that the Jeep designers tried to preserve the original DNA, including the seven vertical grooves in the bow;

But the front grille is curved and low, leaning a little forward, the headlights are narrow and wide ... will have to get used to the new look.

A quick glance at the angles of the chassis makes it clear that this jamus is not meant to cross swamps and deserts.

The truth is, no one expects him to be like that.

A step jump has been made in the cabin, it is up-to-date and very attractive to the eye.

The front console is extensive and carved with soft curves, lined with quality materials.

Large touch screens (10.25 inches plus 10.1) give a sense of richness and technological sophistication, there is also an option for night vision.

Those who insist on going on family trips will find a trunk that is sufficient for every need.

The high equipment levels have air suspension that provides a ventral clearance of up to 27 centimeters, a choice of different terrain modes (type of Terrain Response), heated seats and massagers, and more.

Despite this and because of the unobtrusive body angles, do not expect impressive off-road performance, certainly not with the 21-inch rims that come in the luxury versions.

Base versions will come with 18-inch rims, here it is already possible (perhaps) to assemble half-terrain tires worthy of the name.

Under the hood there are no surprises;

At this point, the L will be sold with a familiar (and not enough luxury car) Pentstar V6 engine with a volume of 3.6 liters, with an output of 290 hp. At the same time, a 5.7 liter V8 with an output of 357 hp is offered.

In the future, a 6-piston diesel and a rechargeable hybrid version will also be offered.

All versions have 4X4 propulsion, with optional power transmission.

The 8-speed automatic transmission is operated by a round dial in the center console, and next to it the chassis height control switches and a selector between five driving modes: automatic, sports, rocks, sand / mud, snow.

For Jeep brand lovers looking for a large and luxurious family frigate, the Grand Cherokee L can be a great choice, carrying with it the charisma of the Jeep, for decades.
