Immunity against the SarsCov2 virus can last at least six months.

This is indicated by the research published in the journal Nature and coordinated by the Rockefeller University of New York group led by Michel Nussenzweig.

The study was conducted on 87 individuals who had had the infection and indicates that the levels of immune memory B lymphocytes remain constant for the period considered in the research.

The results therefore indicate that those who have already had a sarsCov2 infection may have a rapid and effective response to reinfection.

Until now, the only information on immune defenses came from observations made on animals, in which antibody levels decreased over time, but immune memory B cells 'remembered' the virus and could prepare the immune system to produce the same antibodies in case of reinfection.

Similar data is confirmed in humans by the Rockefeller University experiment, conducted on 87 people who had a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19 after 1.3 months and 6.2 months after SarsCoV2 infection.

It was found that, although neutralizing antibodies decrease over time, the number of memory B cells remains unchanged.

These cells also produce antibodies that are stronger than the original ones and more resistant to mutations in the Spike protein, which the virus uses to attack human cells.
