As a sign that the brand is disconnecting from the traditional production-driven business model, Kia has announced a new company name.

The company removes the word Motors from the previous company name (Kia Motors Corporation) and intends to expand into new and evolving areas of practice by creating innovative mobility products and services to improve customers' daily lives.

Kia's new brand slogan, Movement that inspires, is presented today at the heart of the brand's statement and reflects Kia's new goal, to inspire consumers through products and services, and their experiences with the brand.

Kia is focusing on increasing the popularity of fully electric vehicles (BEV) and plans to strengthen its global product line by introducing seven new dedicated vehicles by 2027. These new models will include a range of passenger cars, SUVs and MPVs spanning several market segments, Each of them combines industry-leading technology that enables large driving ranges and fast charging, using the Hyundai Group's new global electric platform (E-GMP).

The new global platform to be used by Hyundai and Kia

Kia is also developing a range of new Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs) for institutional customers.

These specialized vehicles will be based on flexible skateboarding platforms, with modular bodies designed to meet the specific mobility needs of a wide range of business customers and vehicle fleets.

Partnerships with companies such as Canoo and Arrival mean that Kia's dedicated vehicles will be able to offer various vehicles installed on a modular 'skateboard' platform, tailored to the operational needs of users.

The first new generation BEV (fully electric vehicle) model from Kia will be unveiled in the first quarter of 2021, and will embody the change of focus of Kia towards electrification.

This electric vehicle, based on the new E-GMP technology, will be characterized by a crossover-inspired design, and will offer an electric driving range of over 500 km and fast charging in less than 20 minutes.

It will also be the first global model to carry the new Kia logo.
