Exactly the week that Joe Biden is sworn in as President of the United States and his predecessor Donald Trump leaves the White House covered, actor and comedian Udi Kagan shares some insights about the characters he used to emulate in "Great Country."

"I do not know if you have noticed, but everyone I touch comes out of politics," he tells Walla!

"They gave me Oren Hazan, he left. They gave me David Bitan, who will be healthy soon. They gave me Trump - he lost. Do you understand what I mean? That's how it is. People do not want me to imitate them."

After taking a break from his participation in "A Wonderful Land," Udi Kagan returns to the screen, but this time here 11 and in the role itself.

Kagan got into the driver's seat in the new season of the Israeli version of "Carpool Karaoke" and replaces Nicki Goldstein who did it last season.

We met Kagan on the set of "Carpool Karaoke" filming in the episode where the singer Rita is a guest, which will be broadcast one day as an Independence Day special.

The episode was filmed in Hayarkon Park and the two even got out of the car and performed together on the street Rita's hit "Sarah in the Streets" (watch a sneak peek of the performance and the full interview - in the video above).

In "Carpool Karaoke", produced by Yoav Gross and directed by Dana Polig - Kagan's longtime partner, the actor will host the leading singers, singers and ensembles in Israel and go on a crazy musical journey with them.

Sarit Hadad will be a guest on the season opener, which will be broadcast on Sunday, January 24.

The next day (Monday), immediately after the selection of the Israeli song for the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, another episode will be broadcast with Eurovision winner Neta Barzilai.

The following programs will include Hanan Ben-Ari, Avraham Tal, Noa Kirl and Yonatan Margi together, Eliad Nahum, Gidi Gov, Eden Hasson and Aviv Geffen.

Where will the "Carpool Karaoke" travel with Rita, on the "Escape Trail" or on the Silk Road?

Stagdush.

Kagan: "Oh, punches. I see 20 writers have written it, so I don't have an answer yet. I'm already bringing in writers, they'll give you the answer."

How will your version be different from James Corden's version?

I have a feeling you are more radical and extreme than him.

Kagan: "Could very well be. (Turns to Rita) What do you think?"

Rita: "I think he's an amazing casting! The second Udi told me, I said - I'm there."

Kagan: "I hope mom sees, I finished my career. Thank you so much, it was nice, it was fun, we finished."

Not many know that Kagan is not only a wonderful actor and stand-up comedian but also a talented musician, which makes his casting for the role of “Carpool Karaoke” presenter very successful.

In 2004 he met Kagan a French producer who overheard his songs through the balcony of his house, signed him to a contract and Kagan released an album in Paris under the name "Tears and Candies".

Even Rita, who released an album herself in France, was unaware of this until we mentioned it in a joint interview with them.

"I did not know, I would love to hear the album," says the diva to Kagan, and he immediately replies awkwardly: "Because of the success, you do not know him. The treatment of me as a serious musician makes me laugh."

Tell us about the adventure in Paris.

Kagan: "Listen, a lot of comedians are disgruntled musicians. That's how we get to comedy."

Rita: "How lucky you are to be a disgruntled musician, because we came up with such an amazing comedian like you. You are an exciting comedian, you understand? You make a person laugh and cry because you are so excited."

Kagan: "So how lucky you are to be a disgruntled comedian. How lucky is that what we came up with, you understand? Rita is a comedian, I don't know if you are aware of that. She is very funny."

Another thing you have in common, besides the fact that you both released albums in France, is that Udi looked like Bull Exotic, from the Tiger Tiger, and Rita released the album "To the Tiger".

Rita: "I'm trying to tame Udi. So far I have not been able to tame. Do you know what the song 'To tame a tiger' is really about? The tiger is love. Like, to tame love is like to tame a tiger."

You are filming the Independence Day special here, which is reminiscent of the Independence Day performances.

How much does it make you long for the stage after almost a year without it?

Rita: "I really miss this energy, which is created by a lot of people. The power is so healing and enveloping of music. It's magic. It's something so high and sacred. It's so spiritual. It's the real longing, for those moments that suddenly the whole crowd, all the people "All those who come one-on-one suddenly connect, and we become one thing."

How much does it suck that the government puts culture last?

Rita: "The main thing is that for the people themselves, music and art is something so important and precious to them. It's the thing that is most encouraging."

Rita, maybe you'll teach Udi how to imitate you?

Rita: "You know who imitates me best? It's crazy. Silk. Wow, she knows all the little nuances in singing. I did not know that all her childhood she listens to it in such a way that she knows how to imitate me in the smallest subtleties."

Kagan: "How many imitations are there in our country that everyone knows how to do? Five. Rita, Shimon Peres and Yehoram Gaon among them. You, Rita, are part of this team. Let's put it this way - at the entrance to 'Great Country', if you do not know how to do one of these imitations "You are not accepted."

Rita, you were supposed to reunite in a joint show with your ex-partner and your daughters father Rami Kleinstein, almost 20 years since the last joint show and the show was postponed because of the corona.

Could it be that this plague is actually a secret global conspiracy of your spouse and Remy's spouse, who wanted to thwart the union of the divorcees?

"I'll tell you, they did not want to frustrate. They wanted us to do even more rehearsals during the Corona, so that this show would be the most beautiful, ready and exciting thing there is when the Corona ends and we go on stage. You see? We are actually the conspiracy."
