The Senegalese student who has been missing since January 4 is finally giving her news. His godfather posted messages on Twitter Thursday evening

Diary Sow finally gives his news.

Seventeen days after her disappearance, on January 4 in Paris, the student of the prestigious Parisian high school Louis-le-Grand sent a text to Serigne Mbaye Thiam, Minister of National Education of Senegal and "godfather" of the young woman since the death of her father last April.

The latter published a few extracts Thursday evening on his Twitter account with the permission of Diary Sow and after, he said, "several exchanges with her in recent days".

We finally have some good news from #DiarySow.

In a letter she sent me, followed by several exchanges in recent days, she breaks the silence for the first time.

With his agreement and the authorization of his family, below are some extracts from his letter.

“Hello uncle,” she wrote.

I want to clarify that I write to you as freely as I left.

I left enough clues behind me to know I was leaving of my own free will.

I am not hiding.

I am not running away.

See it as a sort of healthy respite in my life ”.

In the extracts published by Serigne Mbaye Thiam, no indication of the place (s) frequented over the past two weeks by the young woman is however mentioned.

“Contrary to what people seem to think, to the words that I am given, I am not giving up my life before.

I am not sorry to have left, I am sorry for the inconvenience caused by my departure and for the people I made suffer.

Diary Sow doesn't pretend to give reasons for his disappearance.

"Those who seek a rational explanation for my act will be disappointed since there is none," warns the 20-year-old young woman, already author of a novel in which her main character disappears twice.

She just closed several doors.

“I did not lose my mind because of the confinement or the preparation […] I never doubted my abilities or my strength.

My departure is not an admission of weakness ”.

Student in the second year of preparatory class for engineering schools, Physics-Chemistry, Diary Sow was to approach the home stretch at the start of the year before the competitions scheduled for spring.

It was supposed to aim, in particular, for entry into the Ecole normale supérieure or the Ecole Polytechnique.

"I am not giving up my life before"

Diary Sow speaks rather "of an irrepressible desire, irrational and so deeply irrational".

As if it was a spiritual retreat for her.

“The day before my departure again, I hesitated […] Running away?

A very pejorative word for such a deep quest, she wrote again.

I am aware of the audacity, of the very cruelty of my approach.

I know what torments my decision gives me, I have a sense of the consequences that it will engender, that it is already causing ”.

The student also looks to the future and initiates the idea of a return.

“Contrary to what people seem to think, I'm not giving up my life before.

I am not sorry to have left, I am sorry for the inconvenience caused by my departure and for the people I made suffer ”.

This is not the first time that the young Senegalese broadcasts a reassuring message to the attention of her relatives.

A few days after her disappearance, she had already left a written record for one of her best friends, the only one to have heard of her plan to disappear.

"Diary is alive, she is doing well," confided this young woman to Parisien-Today in France at the beginning of the week.

You just have to give her time to make her choices and come back if she wants to.

One thing is certain, it will be explained one day or another, tomorrow, in a month or in a year ”.
