Mesh WiFi router put to the test: This is how the internet gets into the last corner

When Steve Jobs presented the first iBook with WLAN in 1999, the audience broke out into thunderous applause.

The ability to go online without annoying network cables was so new that Jobs pulled the notebook through a hula hoop for clarity, just as circus lions jump through rings.

The products recommended here were selected subjectively, but editorially independently.

22 years later, the enthusiasm is no longer that great.

Wi-Fi has long been part of everyday life, and so do shaky Wi-Fi connections.

Because more and more devices, from smart lightbulbs to TVs, share the wireless network and the signal in large apartments often no longer reaches all rooms.

So-called mesh WLANs should at least solve the range problem.

The simple trick here: Instead of just using one router, you can set up two, three or even more networked WLAN hotspots in the apartment.

In this way, the radius can be extended so that you have good reception everywhere - according to the theory.
