The federal police at Frankfurt's largest airport in Germany have been intensifying controls on flights from high-risk areas of the corona pandemic since midnight.
The necessary entry requirements are also consistently checked, the Federal Police Directorate announced on Saturday evening in Frankfurt.
Above all, the entry registrations and proof of a current, negative corona test should be checked.
According to SPIEGEL information, the federal police are also mobilizing significantly more officers at Munich Airport in order to be able to check all landing passengers.

On Sunday, 17 flights from five countries are expected to be affected.
All measures are therefore carried out in close coordination with the health authorities, the Hesse state police, the airport operator and the airlines concerned.
So-called high incidence areas are countries with significantly higher numbers of infections than Germany.
This usually includes countries with an incidence value of over 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week (Germany currently: 115).
However, other countries can also be declared high incidence areas under this brand under certain conditions.
This category, which will apply from Sunday, includes Spain, Portugal, the USA, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Egypt, along with other countries.

In New Zealand, a domestic corona infection has been detected for the first time in more than two months.
As the country's health authorities announced, the corona virus was found in a 56-year-old who had returned to New Zealand from a European trip just under a month ago.
She took the corona test ten days after the end of her two-week mandatory quarantine after entering the country.
The 56-year-old returned from a four-month trip through Europe on December 30th.
According to official information, she stayed mainly in Spain and the Netherlands.
After her entry, she was isolated for two weeks in a quarantine hotel, which she left on January 13.
Two corona tests on the woman during her isolation were negative.
The authorities said the woman had symptoms days before the positive corona test.
After their release from the quarantine hotel, she and her husband also traveled for several days through the Northland region north of Auckland and visited around 30 different places.

The German health authorities reported 12,257 new corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day.
