Magic Taxi: "Carpool Karaoke" is the new candy on screen
Udi Kagan has successfully stepped into the shoes of James Corden in the renewed Israeli incarnation of the show, and provides a truly rare commodity on screen these days: pure fun.
The bonus: between dressing up a banana with Neta Barzilai, a carpentry class with Hanan Ben Ari and lots of songs with the speakers in the car, there are also some simply excellent performances

Promo for "Carpool Karaoke" with Udi Kagan (here 11)
Pretty sad in the last year on TV.
With news throughout the day spiced with reality intrigue, alongside several series mostly on the axis between the nuclear facilities in Tehran and the melancholy of the local criminal world, very few on-screen programs provide pure fun.
And here, we finally have a new candy: even though roadblocks are currently set up on the roads, it's a trip not to be missed - the renewed Israeli incarnation of "Carpool Karaoke" here 11. Since the money taxi there has not been such a rewarding TV ride here.
For the benefit of those who have not visited YouTube in recent years, we will mention what it is about: As part of a favorite corner at Light Cord by James Corden, one of the most likable people on the American screen, he meets every once in a while for a short and funny ride with successful musicians, from Adele to Paul McCartney. Obama), and along the way they talk a bit and mostly sing with the speakers - who actually play their songs.
So simple, so happy.

Considerable cult potential.

Like any good thing, everyone wanted to participate in it, and very quickly inflation did its thing - and the magic eroded.
Still, the format has given it wings: Apple Music has launched its own version, and a local version has been produced in three countries: in Italy, with our new friends from the UAE - and with us.
In 2017, back in the days of the run, a likable season of the show aired under the direction of comedian Nicki Goldstein, but left no special mark.
Now the program is restarting with the minds behind the genius “Messiah,” Dana Polig and Udi Kagan, with the latter in the role of driver.
And it's just wonderful.
Kagan, a legitimate candidate for the title of the funniest man in Israel, whose every appearance on screen is a celebration, is a dream casting as someone who has a musical background and even specializes in musical comedy after "Messiah" and songs like "Family in Quarantine" in a wonderful country.
He has great chemistry with the guests, and they look relaxed and enjoy a lot of the way they usually look in the media.
It comes off the screen out, and as a result, the wonderful garden stands out successfully compared to the original, and the show is completely fresh, with considerable cult potential.
One of the reasons for the success is that Kagan and Polig took care not to repeat themselves too much.
In the four episodes sent to the journalists, along with a variety of karaoke performances, one could find some absurd situations, such as rehearsing a telenovela script with Sarit Hadad, nail design and a banana costume clip with Neta Barzilai, surfing training with Avraham Tal and a carpentry lesson with Hanan Ben Ari .
While having serious quarterbacks and hilarious three-quarters, with more or less public anecdotes - this is probably not exactly where you will find in-depth interviews and revealing revelations, but it's certainly not terrible.
Do not come for in-depth interviews.

Beyond a satisfying joke in itself, sometimes even really successful performances are hidden here.
For example, in an episode that aired yesterday, you could hear an adaptation of two pianos - entrusted to Hadad and Kagan - for "In the Heat of Tel Aviv."
In this respect, it might have been better to cut back on the number of songs that are crammed into 30-25 minutes in total in favor of some full performance.
It would be nice if the program also knows how to include artists outside the middle of the playlist.
The list of episodes announced so far, which includes names like Rita, Gidi Gov, Ethniks, Lior Narkis, Eliad, Eden Hasson, Aviv Geffen, Noa Kirl and Yonatan Margie and others - implies that it is not necessarily on the episode, and it's a shame.
On the sidelines, "Carpool Karaoke" shines through several attempts by the broadcasting corporation to bring back to the evening hours on television what was once an integral part of it - Israeli music that is not part of a reality competition.
Some of these attempts, such as "Shlomi Shaban Host" and the piano performances of the piano festival, were difficult to excite, both because of an insufficiently successful format and because of the objective corona difficulties.
The successful performance of "That's It" may be viral, but is related to a very specific tone.
The presence of Israeli musicians on screen at such hours is welcome, and has value especially when performances have become a forgotten and dusty memory.
