Survival Mode: In the fifth season of "The Bouzaglos" officially crossed the line between family and business - Walla! culture

If in the past there was the illusion that the reality series deals with a family of footballers, in the fifth season it is already clear that Yaakov, Hani and the boys (and the brides of course) see themselves as a small media body. All this does not detract from the authenticity and intimacy of the series, which remains fun and embarrassing this time as well

Asi Buzaglo Can't Stop the Tears After the Surgery of His Wife Adi, "The Buzaglos" (yes)

I will open with a statement that may be perceived as defiant: "The Buzaglos" is a good TV.

True, it has a lot of quarrels, dealing with the most superficial moments in life ("Fill my eyebrows, I'm going for VIP survival") and quite a few pure nonsense moments.

And yes, it's easy to find the evil in the Bouzaglo family, he's shouting at you already from this campaign of the media company we all know.

But it also has quite a few positives, and most importantly - a lot of authenticity.

It is worth looking at it (or reading it, as they say in academia) also as a text about Israel 2021. Because no matter if you were born footballers in the Premier League and your father is called Yaakov Buzaglo or not, the Buzaglo family should name you and every Israeli shows Israel we live in.

The reflection is not necessarily pleasant but quite accurate.

Last week saw the fifth season of "The Buzaglos" (yes, Monday-Wednesday) - a particularly impressive season rate for a series that aired only at the end of 2017, not to mention that the Corona broke out in the middle, which illustrates how easy and convenient it is to produce reality in Israel.

Unlike previous seasons, in which the illusion that we are dealing with a family of footballers still existed, in the new season it is already clear that Yaakov, Hani and the boys (and the brides of course) see themselves as a small media body.

Accordingly, the most talked about theme (at least in the first three episodes) is Asi's participation in the third season of "VIP Survival."

For perfect melams.

Maor and Miran Buzaglo, "The Buzaglos" (Photo: PR, Osnat Rom, yes)

Here we return to a comparison between the Buzaglo family and the State of Israel.

Here, too, there is a constant tension between classes.

There is an elite (Maor) and there is your people (Ohad), there are those who get a hug (Maor again) and there are those who see the back of Yaakov / the country from afar (Almog), and this season the Buzagloas go out into a kind of civil war.

I'm not a big fan of football, but Maor Bouzaglo is not the football star that Yaakov makes of him, the phrase "the huge boy" he swarmed has long been clear as Pike News, and this season it's becoming clearer.

So while Maor is shuffling for him at Hapoel Tel Aviv (which shuffles itself), Assi realizes that the title of King of the Buzagloi is completely free to lead and he goes to war on the streets.

Maor and his lovely wife Miran are perfect mummies who don’t really go out and defend what is theirs, and so the only one who responds to war is the older brother a fan.

There is no doubt that the madness that grips the family around Asi's participation in "Survival" is no less ridiculous.

On the other hand, this is a group that realized that with a lot of ambition and a good agent (Abba Yaakov), even a very ordinary family can take over most of the billboards in Israel.

And seriously, it's time to take off the masks and admit that we're all somewhere we were participating in a reality show or at least a show.

We probably ask ourselves if we would go all the way and enter "Big Brother", show that we know how to stand in front of the forces of nature and go to "Survival" or settle for some small performance in "The Pursuit", but the truth is you would probably be less Israeli if you were not in reality .

A social class is created here that is built on the votes of the audience, and the buzaglos are merely a symptom.

Madness grips the family.

Another issue, no less interesting, that comes up in the first episodes of the season, is the cosmetic surgery that Adi Bouzaglo (Asi's wife) undergoes.

Right with the rise of the season of "Survival" and with the promos already starring on screen, Adi announces to Assi that she has decided to change her look, remove fat from her chin, abdomen, thighs and that she is actually going to go into four hours of surgery and date a whole new woman.

Asi responds with tears, not because he thinks it's awful that Adi doesn't love herself, but because he needs her by his side in the complex days he goes through.

Still, soon the whole country will know it is intriguing and needs a shoulder.

One can criticize Asi's egoism and say that this is a typical behavior of a family that is - let's face it - mega chauvinistic.

But more needs to be complimented on the creators (Sigal Shavit, Dafna Farner and Shai Ines) for being able to reach such a level of intimacy with their protagonists that it takes away absolute authenticity.

Yes, even in reality.

I estimate there are tens of thousands of Israelis who would dream of getting up in the morning as part of the Buzaglo family: they have money, they have fame and they have each other.

The question is whether all those people who were willing to exchange with the Buzaglos, were willing to pay the price of privacy for that.

A question that each of us can answer only for himself.

In any case, even in the fifth season of "The Bouzaglos" remained a fun, embarrassing, largely tragic but also thought-provoking viewing.

Not a bad achievement.
