Covid-19: more than 26,000 new cases in 24 hours

Hospitalization figures remain high, with 27,953 hospitalized patients including more than 1,800 new admissions.


More than 26,000 people (26,362) have tested positive for the coronavirus in 24 hours, according to data released this Wednesday by Public Health France, which shows a relative stability of other indicators.

The contaminations figure is the second highest over the past month, after a high of 26,784 cases on January 20.

The positivity rate is almost stable, at 6.7%.

The number of deaths in hospital stands at 358 in 24 hours.

It was 404 Tuesday night.

The numbers of hospitalizations remain high, with 27,953 hospitalized patients (-76 compared to the previous day), including 1,882 new admissions (against 2,189 Tuesday).

In addition, Public Health France reported 3,267 patients with Covid-19 in intensive care or intensive care on Wednesday evening, with 275 new admissions in 24 hours, against 369 the day before.

The figures smoothed over one week, which avoid daily fluctuations, give 11,212 new hospitalizations and 1,788 intensive care admissions.

Data down slightly compared to the previous day (11,263 and 1,830 respectively).

More than 1.6 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 102,000 have received two.

Prime Minister Jean Castex will hold a press conference this Thursday to take stock of the health situation and the measures to combat the pandemic already in place.
