At first glance, it seems that the Israeli car market is run completely detached from the Corona.
Closures, restrictions, a galloping economy for a recession, a huge deficit that we will pay for years to come - nothing stops Israelis from buying new cars.
According to data from the Carzon website for comparing vehicles, the full data from the Ministry of Transportation show that 49,222 cars hit the roads in January.
This is the highest monthly dedication ever, even compared to January which is considered a "strong" month in dedication.
Compared to January 2020, which was the last "normal" month, this is an increase of 17.5 percent.

Some of the reasons for this unusual behavior are those that accompanied the car market in the previous year as well, and some are circumstantial and related to January.
The former include the liquid money left in the pockets of the undamaged corona sectors, but their leisure expenses have dropped significantly (trips, overseas, restaurants and entertainment) and they have directed them to buy cars. Another type of customer are those who have moved from home, returned the attached car, but A second car is still needed at home and a third factor is the ongoing slump in public transport services, which this year was joined by the fear of being infected in Corona.
Circumstantial conditions that are more related to January and recur every year are customers preferring to register the car as a "2021 model". The Israeli, although the registration on the license is by the month of an ascent to the road.In a more thorough analysis, one can also see a return of leasing companies that begin to refresh fleets after stagnation in 2020.

Among the leading brands, there have been no far-reaching changes.
Hyundai continues to be the best-selling car brand in Israel and with over 11,000 dedications it presents a record in dedication to the importer in a single month.
Toyota in second place and Kia in third.
In fourth place is Skoda with 3,454 units, but after deducting taxis, it drops to fifth place and Mazda surprises and tops it.
In terms of best-selling models, the Corolla is still the leader in the table, with 2,577 units, Ionic in second place, Kia Picanto in third, Hyundai i20 continues to enjoy high numbers thanks to the IDF supply contract and Chevrolet Spark in fifth place (ahead of Skoda Octavia by about 100 units).
Although popular cars are at the top of the table, an interesting statistic pointed out by Amir Weinstock, founder of the Carzon website, is that the average price per car for a private customer was NIS 186,547 in January.
