WhatsApp Darkness Mode (PR)

Intelligence companies around the world are looking for the easiest way to reach the goal, so why not actually offer the goal one of the most popular apps in the world?

And of course we mean WhatsApp.

Those same intelligence companies have managed to reach a number of users and offer them to download the WhatsApp app through a site that looks exactly like the original.

The main thing of those companies, was to reach users with iPhones.

When the download link is not actually a real installation file of the application, but actually a spyware that pretends to install a profile on the iPhone (or in its professional name - Mobile Device Management).

What is a profile setup on an iPhone or iPad?

Profiles can be installed on iPhone and iPad to receive external services.

For example, Apple itself uses the above platform to install a profile on the iPhone on the iPad or the Apple Watch to get development versions of the iOS operating system. Other large companies also offer special services by installing a downloadable profile for the device.

Unfortunately, the same site impersonating WhatsApp Reached the wrong users and not the same targets that were targeted against them. Innocent users came to the same site and downloaded the profile without knowing that it was a fake site.

Intelligence companies are looking to reach you

The same Italian intelligence company that is even linked to the alleged Italian intelligence itself, is the one responsible for the spy.

After installing the profile, a WhatsApp "app" will appear on the user on the device, but in fact it is not really an app.

Thus falling victim to the same user who does not understand anything, even after deleting that "app" from the device, does not cause the profile to be removed.

Thus, the intelligence company was able to impersonate the same targets, when after installing the profile you can know the IMEI (ID number of the device) and the ID number that Apple gives to each device called UDID.

It is not yet clear what details the company managed to extract from those users who fell into the trap and installed the fake WhatsApp app.

This way you will know if a profile has been installed on the iPhone or iPad

  • Enter the Settings screen

  • Click General

  • Search for "Profile"

  • If the above definition appears to you, then it means that a profile has been installed and is under the definition. If you do not see the definition of "profile" under General, then no profile has been installed.

  • We have always recommended and will continue to recommend - there is no way to install external apps, not to install profiles that will allow you to install hacked apps, and always but always download the app from the officially recognized app store, Apple App Store, or Google Play Store.
