"I felt a chest discomfort, but I assumed my throat was dry from the weather and work outside last night," Guttierez explained.
His family even joked with him that he might have "swallowed her headphones" - something that became a reality when he went to the local clinic and did an X-ray.
The earpiece was removed from the throat during an emergency endoscopy procedure, at the end of which he returned home.
"The doctor said it was very rare for such a blockage to not hurt. Watch out at night when you hear music with your wireless headphones when you fall asleep, you never know where they will go," Guttierez added.
In case you were wondering, the headset he swallowed still works great, but with a slight decrease in volume.
