The family jewel, which will also be the progenitor of the engines to come, is now produced in 5 units per day.

The assembly is totally manual: only trolleys, no automatisms, for a process that takes about 24 hours.



A single operator follows the entire path, from the first bolt to the last cable.

Outside of these times, Maserati's traditional hot test that tests all its engines, one by one.

Before the test, the already assembled engine is subjected to the helium test: filled with inert gas, it reveals every possible defect.



During the presentation it was explained that Nettuno has reopened the gates of mechanics in Maserati, but that it will not remain unique: it is in fact expected that the next cars that will leave the Modena plants, starting from the Grecale, will also be powered by engines' home made 'that will be inspired by Neptune.

It is premature, however, to ask for any other specification: the mouths remain sewn, just as we prefer not to disclose details on the capitals used for design, development and implementation.

As for the use of this engine on other models of the Stellantis Group, of which Maserati is a part, there is currently no application project.



On the other hand, the return of the design and construction of engines is part of the impulse given to the Trident of the new course, which also saw the creation of two excellences such as the Engine Lab and the painting department, in addition to the renewal of the line. of production.

The convertible versions of the MC20 will also come from here, as well as the GT and full electric Gc.
