The alleged perpetrator, a 64-year-old man, allegedly fired a 12mm caliber rifle at his mother and wife before turning the weapon over.

Three members of the same family were discovered dead Sunday in two adjoining houses in a village in the Creuse.

A 64 year old man, his 87 year old mother and 61 year old wife.

The first elements point to a double homicide followed by a suicide, we learned Monday from the prosecutor of Guéret.

According to Bruno Sauvage, the alleged perpetrator fired a 12 mm caliber rifle at his 87-year-old mother and his 61-year-old wife before turning the weapon against him, in Arfeuille-Châtain, a small town of 200 inhabitants in the east of the Creuse, near Aubusson.

Two texts found in the house

Two writings left in the family home by the alleged perpetrator support this hypothesis, according to the Guéret prosecutor, confirming comments made in the daily La Montagne.

The farming couple lived in one house and the octogenarian in the other.

Their bodies were discovered Sunday morning by a nurse who came to provide treatment.

According to France 3, the wife had been in retirement for two years while her husband still exercised a few hours a week in the field he had started to rent.

The alleged perpetrator had no criminal record, according to the prosecutor.

No complaint from the gendarmerie or referral to justice for domestic violence had been made before the tragedy.

An investigation for homicide was opened and entrusted to the departmental research brigade of Guéret.

Autopsy results are expected by Wednesday.
