What does Netanyahu mean when he says to Yonit Levy, "Na na na na na na"? - Walla! culture

From the particularly long interview of the Prime Minister on News 12, the most ridiculous imitation of a journalistic attempt to demand answers about managing a catastrophic crisis will remain. Levy also laughed in front of the imitation. How can it not be: this is the ultimate proof of the true, playful nature of the event: not an arena of questions and answers, but entertainment

Did not feel the need to hold the public accountable.

What will we take as viewers from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's interview with Yonit Levy on News 12?

We will dilute propaganda, clichés, inaccuracies and worn-out attacks on the media, and will be left mostly with the "na na na na na na" dance.

What does Netanyahu mean when he answers "na na na na na na" to questions about the nature of the management of a catastrophic crisis, in which more than 5,400 Israelis have already died?

Only Netanyahu can express so much in five obscure syllables.

I do not have a Netanyahu-Hebrew dictionary, but this is what I understood: he means, first of all, that he does not feel the need to be accountable to the public.

Second, that he refuses to acknowledge any error in his judgment throughout the months of crisis.

Third, that he despises the audacity of journalists to bother him with questions.

Fourth, and this can be deduced from the theatricality and hand gestures, that the interview on Channel 12, the media body he so often defames, is in any case a show for the purposes of a campaign and nothing more.

Na na na na na na, this is Netanyahu's true and authentic message to viewers in an interview with the most watched news edition in Israel.

Netanyahu received all the attention he could get, with a privilege in the form of a particularly lengthy interview.

Indeed, he seemed to enjoy every moment.

Laughing, toying with "fact-checking," smilingly also makes demagogic claims.

Levy also laughed in front of the "na na na na na na".

How can it not be: this is the ultimate proof of the true, playful nature of the whole event - not an arena of questions and answers, but of entertainment for the public.

The true story of the interview comes precisely from the times she demanded answers.

Yonit Levy (Photo: Screenshot, Keshet 12)

Levy did her best to demand answers from Netanyahu, and obtained quite a few considering how few of these her interviewee agreed to provide, including an admission of contacting Arnon Milchen, a key figure in the 1000 case. He repeatedly accused in an amused tone how much the media did not give expression to his messages (reminder: Netanyahu's interview lasted over half an hour), and usually this was enough to get from his interviewer at that moment more sympathetic air time.

The real story of the interview comes from the times when Levy did demand answers, but it just did not help.

In the conversation, Netanyahu refrained from giving honest answers in favor of propaganda, Yair Lapid, Gideon Saar, Iran, vaccines.

When Levy presented him with facts, dates, quotes - Netanyahu replied to her, more or less literally, in various forms of "na na na na na na."

Any media would be happy to interview the Prime Minister as much as he wants, but if it is the crop, it might have been possible to end this interview at an earlier stage as well.
