With the launch of the Qashqai, 14 years ago, Nissan paved the way for a new generation of vehicles, SUVs and crossovers that over the years have become a must on the market, especially in Europe.

Today, with the arrival of the third generation of what has been called an 'emblematic model', with over 3 million units sold in Europe (5 globally), the Japanese company introduces what could be called the flagship of the brand , a series of technologies and innovations, starting from electrified engines, increasingly in line with customer needs and market demands.

The aim of the engineers and designers was to maintain a strong connection with the past, from a design point of view, without sacrificing technological evolution.

With the Alliance's new CMF-C platform behind the new model, an unprecedented blend of high engineering, innovation and cutting-edge technologies, the new Qashqai will raise the bar in the crossover segment and customers will appreciate its features.

As with its predecessors, the third generation Qashqai was also designed by the Nissan Design Europe team in London.

The muscular lines of the exterior recreate a more robust presence, thanks in part to the new 20-inch alloy wheels, introduced on this car for the first time.

The wheelbase is 20mm longer, for an overall length increased by 35mm.

Height (+ 25mm) and width (+ 32mm) also increase.

Inside, the new ergonomic design offers greater roominess and more space.

On the front, the Nissan V-Motion grille is now larger, chromed and with a satin secondary line to emphasize its precision.

This is joined by slim full LED headlights with boomerang daytime running lights.

All this coupled with the air intakes under the headlights and hood lines help to give the new Qashqai a sense of strength.

The front lights of the new Qashqai have been improved thanks to the use of LED technology, which has also resulted in a slimmer and sharper design.

A graduated teardrop optic is mounted on the rear lights to create a 3D lighting effect.

Connected, comfortable and welcoming, the cabin of the new Qashqai sets new standards in the segment for a premium feel, elegant design and enhanced usability.

The new Qashqai features an advanced infotainment system with a range of connectivity services that include integration with smartphones, In-Car Wi-Fi to connect up to seven devices and NissanConnect Services, the dedicated app to manage and monitor the vehicle. .

The Nissan Connect has a new high-resolution 9 "display with which to access all the navigation functions, entertainment and setup and is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which is also available in wireless mode.

The new display Full electronic, high definition 12.3 "multifunction TFT can be configured for navigation, entertainment, traffic updates or vehicle information, all accessible via the new touch controls on the steering wheel.

Also available is the 10.8 '' Head Up Display (HUD), the largest in its class, projects navigation, traffic or driver assistance information onto the windshield in the driver's field of vision.

Home-to-Car functions are compatible with Google Assistant devices and Amazon Alexa.

But the real news lies under the hood of the new generation of Qashqai, the first to definitively abandon diesel.

This is to the advantage of two more efficient electrified powertrain systems for better savings in terms of fuel consumption and emissions.

New Qashqai which will be available with 1.3 DiG-T petrol engine with mild hybrid technology and the innovative and exclusive e-POWER system, making its debut in Europe.

It is possible to choose, in addition to the two engines, between two or four-wheel drive, 6-speed manual gearbox or new Xtronic.

The 140/158 hp 1.3 DiG-T petrol with 12 V mild-hybrid technology makes the engine competitive in terms of power, torque, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, all with a total vehicle weight increase of only 22 kg.

The mild hybrid system is mated to the 1.3 DiG-T turbo petrol engine, introduced on the Qashqai in 2018 and today further improved with the introduction of 50 newly designed components and full compliance with the European Euro 6D emissions standard. available in two power levels 140 and 158 hp, combined with a 6-speed manual transmission or the new Xtronic gearbox (only for the 158 hp versions).

The maximum power is delivered at 5,500 rpm, while the maximum torque of 270 Nm is already available at 1,750 rpm on the 158 HP variants with manual gearbox or Xtronic.

The new Qashqai also marks the European debut of the innovative e-Power propulsion system, a Nissan-exclusive technology, a key component of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, which represents a new approach to electric mobility.

The e-Power system consists of a high-capacity battery, a 157 hp petrol engine with variable compression ratio, a generator, an inverter and a 140 kW electric motor of similar size and power to those of the electric vehicles in the range Nissan.

A truly unique solution, which offers the progressive and linear acceleration characteristic of EVs, but without the need for plug-in recharging as it is equipped with an integrated electric generator on board.

The e-Power system is already adopted in Japan on the Nissan Note and Serena models and was then specifically fine-tuned to meet the needs of European customers.

For example, on Note the battery is charged by a 1.2-liter petrol engine and the electric motor delivers 108 hp.

For Europe, however, the petrol engine is 1.5 liters and the power of the electric motor is 190 hp (140 kW).

The new Qashqai e-Power uses the e-Pedal system, similar to that of Leaf, which allows you to manage the vehicle with a single pedal.

The premiere edition is expected to be launched next June, which will be offered in Europe in a limited edition of only 5 thousand copies.
