WhatsApp has posted a new post in the FAQ area of its official website, where it explains what exactly will happen if you do not agree to its new terms of use - which include sharing some of your information with Facebook.

According to the company, "You will not be able to enjoy the full functionality of WhatsApp until you confirm the updates."

"To give you enough time to review the changes in your pace, we have postponed the day the updates take effect to May 15," the social network wrote.

"If you do not confirm receipt of the updates by then, WhatsApp will not delete your account. However, for a short period of time you will be able to receive calls and alerts, but you will not be able to read or send messages in the app.

Want to switch to a competing app?

No problem, the social network has included neat guides and added that "before May 15, you can export your chat history on Android or iPhone, as well as download a report of your account."

It is also important to remember that deleting the account is an irreversible action, and that the company reserves the right to delete inactive accounts for 120 days.

"This is an action that we cannot cancel because it will delete your message history, remove you from all WhatsApp groups and delete all your WhatsApp backups," they wrote.
