French authorities have decided to open proceedings against Gerard Depardieu, who is considered one of the greatest French film actors, due to suspicion that in 2018 he raped and sexually assaulted a 22-year-old actress, the French news agency reported today (Tuesday).
In 2019, a preliminary investigation against Depardieu following these allegations of rape was closed due to lack of evidence after nine months.
The investigation was reopened last summer, leading to criminal charges against the film legend.
According to the publication, a source from the legal world confirmed the things.
The 72-year-old French star is accused of raping and sexually assaulting him at his home in Paris in August 2018. The foreign media reported that according to a source close to the case, Depardieu is a member of the woman's family.

The actor's lawyer told AFP that Depardieu was "completely dismissing the allegations".
