Covid-19: three maps to visualize the departments under pressure

2021-02-24T19:01:17.031Z

INFOGRAPHIC - The evolution of the epidemic shows different faces from one department to another. After the Moselle and the Alpes-Maritimes, the government is now implementing targeted measures, the latest, a weekend containment in Dunkirk.

The situation in the fight against Covid-19 "is deteriorating" and "is very worrying in a dozen departments," government spokesman Gabriel Attal said Wednesday after the Council of Ministers.

In certain territories where the situation has clearly deteriorated, "rapid and strong measures" are required "in the face of the imminent risks before us", he insisted.

“We showed it last week in Moselle, we showed it this weekend in the Alpes-Maritimes: as soon as the situation requires it, we do not hesitate to take rapid and strong measures and decisions. ".

Indeed, several departments have worrying incidence rates and hospital blood pressure rates.

In addition to the Alpes-Maritimes, or the Moselle, already mentioned, high incidence rates are noted in Pas-de-Calais, Var and Bouches-du-Rhône.

Likewise in the department of the North where certain agglomerations reach very high rates.

The Minister of Health Olivier Véran thus announced the establishment of a weekend containment in the agglomeration of Dunkirk from this Friday.

Finally, in Ile-de-France, the departments of Val-de-Marne and Seine-Saint-Denis, just like Paris, are close to 300 cases per 100,000.

But to fully understand the situation, we must also observe the hospital blood pressure rates, i.e. the share of intensive care beds in the department occupied by patients with Covid-19.

In the Drôme for example, this rate reaches 138%, and in the Hautes-Alpes, it flirts with 150%.

On this last map, we can finally observe the evolution of hospitalizations for Covid-19 over the past few days.

In particular, we can see a significant dynamic, greater than 50% in three departments (Morbihan, Haute-Corse, Ariège).
