Traveling is difficult at the moment.

If you have wanderlust, heaven can help you dream far away - into the desert, for example.

Because the fact that the rising or setting sun shines so red is due to the sand from the Sahara that has blown to us.

Christian Kronfelder, Meteorologist, German Meteorological Service Munich

"So the basic requirements are: We need a storm over the Sahara so that the dust is transported to higher layers of the air, and then a southerly current has to set in, as we currently have, for example through a high pressure area in the east. And then the Saharan dust is transported across the Mediterranean to the Alps and then to Germany. "

If it snows, the fine sand falls to the ground and colors everything slightly reddish.

If it is dry, it stays in the air.

Christian Kronfelder, Meteorologist, German Meteorological Service Munich

"Yes, you can now see, for example, sometimes that the sun is cloudy or of course, when it is washed out, you can see the sand directly, the blood sand as you said now in the snow. "

... or the big blood orange in the sky.

If you get up early, you still have a chance to see the special dawn in many places tomorrow.
