The US rover "Perseverance" has sent a high-resolution 360-degree panorama image of Mars.
The robot took the picture on Sunday by rotating a camera attached to a mast on its surface once through 360 degrees, the US space agency Nasa announced on Wednesday (local time).

The rover landed on Mars on February 18.
It is located in the Jezero crater in the northern hemisphere of the planet.

The image shows, among other things, scree, hills and the horizon around the Jezero crater.
It is a dry lake with a diameter of about 45 kilometers.

The all-round view consists of 142 photos.
The panorama image has such a high resolution that details of just three to five millimeters near the rover and details of two to three meters further away are clearly visible.

The picture shows an area of the crater that the Mars rover could examine more closely.
It is also about finding possible traces of former life on Mars.

“Perseverance” had previously published its first panorama image, as well as spectacular video images of its landing and the first sound recordings from the surface of the red planet.
You can see the video here.
In the Mars parachute, internet users discovered a hidden message (more on this here).

Nasa worked on the development and construction of the rover for eight years.
That cost around $ 2.5 billion (about 2.2 billion euros).

»Perseverance« is the fifth rover that NASA has brought to Mars - the last time »Curiosity« arrived there in 2012.
Earlier Mars rovers had also sent panoramic images from the planet to Earth.
