Israeli MyHeritage project launches ️ ️Deep Nostalgia, which allows you to animate characters from old family photos.

MyHeritage, a company that develops and offers a service that helps research and discover family roots, is launching a new development called Deep Nostalgia, which allows you to animate and produce a video of characters appearing in still images, including old images.

Those who have died come to life: Mae Heritage's new technology

The new development provides an opportunity to take a new look at family history by helping to create a realistic description of how a person photographed in an ancient image could have shown had he been photographed on video and in motion.

With the launch of the new product MyHeritage is the only company that offers a complete package of options and products designed for coloring old photos, restoring and enhancing them, and now also the option to create animation of those family photos.

The new development is carried out with the help of the technology for animating the face in images by D-ID, a company that specializes in video reconstruction using deep learning technologies (deep-learning).

Deep Nostalgia uses a number of pre-recorded videos by the company that adjust the animated movements or physical gestures to look completely human.

When was the last time you received a smile from Ben-Gurion?

The technology works so that for each still image a section is selected that suits it and it knows how to adjust the image so that it becomes animated.

The result is a short, high-quality video that shows individual faces that can smile, blink and move.

In order to achieve the best result, before animation, the images are also improved in quality through MyHeritage Photo Enhancer, another development of the company.

The development is free to use on the MyHeritage platform, so users can animate multiple images for free regardless of the number of faces in the image.

Beyond that, continued use requires a subscription to the company’s platform.

Deep Nostalgia is the new artificial intelligence-based tool designed for MyHeritage photos.

It joins two previous and popular products from the company MyHeritage Photo Enhancer and ™ ️MyHeritage In Color that made it possible to improve the quality of photos, repaint photos taken in white and restore colors in old faded photos.

These options have gone viral around the world and have been used over 30 million times.

The company says that the popularity of these features supports the further development of new tools for historical images, which will lead to a reassessment of family history and nostalgic images.

"When people see a nostalgic family picture come to life, it will be a special moment for them," says Gilad Yefet, CEO and founder of MyHeritage. our".

"The new product is an exciting collaboration between two innovative companies," says Gil Perry, co-founder and CEO of D-ID. "We are excited that our technology will be accessible to millions of people at MyHeritage and hope they enjoy the capabilities of creating video from historical images."
