The February automotive market once again showed two characteristics that had been seen in the January patents: a rise was repeated compared to the same month of the previous year and the ranking was dominated by nationally produced models.

During the past month the number of patented vehicles in 2021 amounted to

30,141 units

, which represents a rise of 8.9% year-on-year, since 27,679 units had been registered in February 2020.

In this way, in the two accumulated months of the year,

79,866 units

were patented

, which means a growth of 9.9% more than in the same period of 2020, in which 72,651 had been registered, according to the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA).

The Toyota Hilux was the second best-selling model and the most chosen pickup so far in 2021.

In the analysis by brand, Toyota revalidated the leadership shown in January, with a total of 5,709 units patented in February.

This gives a total of 15,288 vehicles sold for the year.

Volkswagen (4,851 vehicles), Fiat (4,079), Renault (2,659), Chevrolet (2,640), Peugeot (2,334), Ford (2,223), Nissan (1,136), Jeep (835) and Citroën (659) complete the

top ten

of February marks.

From ACARA they estimate that "the challenge is to continue insisting that, through stimuli, we can complete a good year 2021" as expressed by the president of the entity, Ricardo Salomé.

The head of the association also stressed that "the conformation of the supply, but also of the demand, requires more and more national cars, that also opens a great opportunity to go to a greater integration and boost of national production."

This is reflected in the top ten patents according to the models, where half were produced in Argentina.

The best seller of the month was again the Fiat Cronos.
