Samsung's new and expensive flagship device is rated below devices that are more than a year old - which cost half as much • Why?

The DxOMark website, which specializes in comprehensive and in-depth testing of cameras, published yesterday (Monday) the review of Samsung's flagship device, the Galaxy S21 Ultra - and it seems that the company would have preferred the results not to be published at all.
The device, which is considered one of the most expensive smartphones in the Israeli market mainly because most of the investment in it was devoted to the advanced photography set that Samsung promises, received a low score of only 121 points - lower than the previous generation, the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
If we break down the scores, it can be seen that in the still photography, the two devices - the new generation and the previous generation - received the same score of 128 points.
On the other hand, in the field of video, the Galaxy S20 Ultra excels more and gained 106 points, compared to the new model, which was satisfied with only 96 points.
In addition, the device was ranked at the bottom when the cameras of older smartphones - such as the iPhone 11 Pro Max and Huawei Mate 30, which were launched more than a year ago, received a significantly higher rating.
what went wrong?
Well, at DxOMark they explain that in the zoom test the extra wide lens did a good job, but the problem was with the dual telephoto lens, which did not live up to expectations and provided a rather low level of detail "with an unnatural texture".
They also say that there is a presence of noise ("grain") in all conditions, sometimes very clearly, both in photos and videos.
"There is no doubt that the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is an exciting device with a powerful chipset and impressive display," DxOMark concluded. "If the camera is your top priority, there are now several better options to choose from, but there is hope that Samsung can fix some of the problems. "Identified in this review by updating a version, thus reducing the gap between the S21 Ultra 5G and first-class devices."
