The Green Hell of the Nordschleife - the Northern Ring in German - of the Nürburgring has become the White Hell to preview the incredible dynamic capabilities of the new Queen of electric cars, the 646 hp Audi e-Tron GT.
After the static preview in Cortina on the occasion of the Alpine Ski World Championships, the House of the Four Rings has chosen Lake Misurina, or rather the frozen surface of this spectacular body of water, for the dynamic debut of Audi e- Tron GT, the brand's first electric GT and also the most powerful car in the company's history.Under the guidance of racing driving and extreme testing expert Massimo Perini, the Audi Italia technical staff created the version in Misurina. 'white' of the Green Hell of the Nordschleife reproducing some of the most technical points of the Nürburgring circuit, the legendary track where Audi technicians and test drivers refine the handling and set-up of high-performance cars.
And it is precisely on this subzero racetrack that we had the opportunity to drive and evaluate the two versions of the e-Tron GT and the RS e-Tron GT which will debut in Italy in May with a price list that is 107,800 and 149,800 euros respectively.

Audi e-Tron GT, extreme test on the frozen lake of Misurina
On a demanding but extremely fun track - which was opened in the test session by Claudio Marenzi, patron of Herno, the brand that combines technological innovation and sustainability in the fashion world, and by Dindo Capello, the iconic ambassador of sportiness made in Audi and winner three times at Le Mans - the contact with the new electric Granturismo begins to generate emotions already with the two racing cars stationary on the snow.
As Marc Lichte, head of design at Audi proudly said, the e-Tron GT "is the most beautiful car I have designed" and impresses with the importance of the look and the promise of comfort and performance even in the 4.99. meters in length and in the 'cleanliness' of the lines, which are the result of the brand's sporting DNA without excessive concessions to belonging to the electric world. The RS variant, the one that moves the bar of exclusivity even higher, stands out for the total black exterior finishes, for the 20-inch wheels and for the (really appreciable) possibility of replacing the glass roof with an element in composite fibers that lighten the car by another 12 kg and improve the 50:50 weight distribution between the two axles. In any case, the e-Tron GT is, with a Cx equal to 0.24, one of the most aerodynamic sports cars while guaranteeing grip at high speeds.
Typically Audi also the cockpit and the comfort of the seats, with that for the driver and front passenger in a lowered position, separated by a large console, and the rear ones that can accommodate three adults. The 12.3-inch display of the Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus digital instrumentation, standard, and the 10.1-inch MMI touch monitor stand out in the dashboard. The interior upholstery is sustainable and by opting for the 'leather free' package, recycled materials replace the leather.
By enabling the engine to operate, one discovers the incredible dynamic capacity of the e-Tron GT: just over a kilometer is enough, where the steps between the legendary Caracciola Karussell curve and the Piccolo Karussell have been reproduced to scale, to make it skyrocket adrenaline. This is the case of the inclusion of Steilstrecke, where the carbon ceramic brakes in combination with the excellent Pirelli winter tires allow you to play with load transfers thanks to the balanced 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear axles. The new Audi e-Tron GT has 530 Hp (rising to 646 Hp in the RS) which can be unloaded to the ground thanks to the electronic locking of the rear differential - to obtain a spectacular power oversteer - while in the 'elbow' of Hohe Acht reproduced in Misurina the electric Quattro all-wheel drive divides torque between five times faster than a traditional mechanical system.
It should be remembered that the extremely high torque values - 640 Nm for the Audi e-tron GT and 830 Nm for the RS - ensure record accelerations on asphalt: 0 to 100 km / h respectively in 4.1 and 3.3 seconds in the latter case. with Launch control. For information only (given the speed limits) the two e-Tron GTs reach 245 and 250 km / h respectively. But let's go back to the Misurina track: in the 'esse' of Eschbach and Brünnchen, the integral steering, present for the first time in a model of the e-Tron range, ensures great responsiveness as needed in a tight mix, and then restores stability. as speed increases.
In the extensions of Pflanzgarten and Stefan-Bellof-S, the two electric motors of Audi e-Tron powered by the 93 kWh lithium-ion battery (85 kWh usable) and 800 Volt voltage demonstrate that 'electrons' can effectively replace the air-petrol mixture in generating emotions, moreover eliminating - with a WLTP autonomy of 488 km - the so-called recharge anxiety.
