WhatsApp announced this morning (Thursday) that it is officially launching the option to make calls on the computer.

First, you can have a call of only two participants, with the company promising that in the future the option will expand and it will be possible to make multi-participant calls.

The service is available to all users of the application for the Windows and macOS operating systems.

"Over the past year we have seen a significant increase among people who communicate with each other on WhatsApp," they said on the social network.

"On New Year's Eve, we broke the record for calls made in the app in one day, with 1.4 billion voice and video calls. We want CallStap calls to feel closest to a face-to-face meeting, regardless of where you are in the world or the technology you use."

According to WhatsApp, the goal is to make it easier for users to see their friends more clearly on a large screen, emphasizing that the call will work seamlessly in longitudinal, as well as horizontal photography.

In addition, the conversation window will appear regularly at the top of the screen, so that you can continue to use the computer during the conversation - and return to it by clicking.

Also, the social network emphasizes that the calls are encrypted from end to end, so that Westap cannot hear or see them, whether you are calling from your phone or computer.

It all happens automatically: there is no need to enable settings or set up special and secret chats to secure the calls.
