Porsche Taycan changes skin and becomes Taycan Cross Turismo: same electric soul, same power, different approach to the road.

With the new Cross Utility Vehicle which aims to be a reference for the sector, the Stuttgart-based company expands its full-electric range with a car that, while remaining purely sporty, is perfectly at ease even outside the asphalt belt. : from the ice of Norway to the African deserts, from the mud to the dirt roads, nothing is precluded to this real supercar which, immediately, will be available in 4 variants.

During today's world premiere, CEO Oliver Blum recalled how Porsche is interpreting the electric transition: "We see ourselves as the pioneers of sustainable mobility: by 2025, one in two new cars will be equipped with an electrified, fully electric or plug hybrid engine. -in. As early as 2020, one in three cars sold in Europe was. The future - he argues - belongs to electromobility, and with the Taycan Cross Turismo we are taking another big step in this direction ".

Taycan Cross Turismo, therefore, is only one of the cars that Porsche is planning to renew the range, but on further details the mouths remain sewn.

As for now, Stefan Weckbach, vice president of model line Taycan, explains, a cabriolet version is not planned, even if the thought is not entirely strange.

Taycan Cross Turismo, therefore, preserves the dna of the Taycan sedan, that 'soul electrified' to which Blum refers.

But if the powertrain is the same electric with 800 volt architecture as its 'road' sister, the CUV - which from an aesthetic point of view reflects the Mission E Cross Turismo concept presented in 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show - has been designed and redesigned for tackle even more challenging routes than asphalt.

The new high-tech chassis with all-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension guarantees extreme flexibility both on the road and on the ground: higher - 36 millimeters more headroom for those sitting in the back - and with over 1,200 liters of load capacity to adapt to any situation.

For the more adventurous off-road lovers, a specific optional package is available that increases the ground clearance up to a maximum of 30 millimeters: not a car for extreme off-roading, of course, but certainly capable of tackling difficult terrain. also thanks to the standard "Gravel Mode" driving program.

From now on, it was said, Tycan Cross Turismo will be available in four variants, all with the 93.4 kWh performance plus battery as standard.

In the course of the in-depth analysis following the presentation, some further details were revealed: the four-wheel drive has been optimized for this specific car, as well as the consumption is slightly reduced compared to the Taycan sedan.

Net of the common imprinting, the new CUV is characterized by the descending line of the roof at the rear as well as by a series of 'offroad' details: from the wheel arches, to the lower parts of the front and the independent tail, to the side skirts to the flaps that protect against stone chips and give personality.

The Taycan Cross Turismo will hit the market this summer.
