2021-03-08T12:52:25.169Z

According to our information, the investigators identified the last interlocutor of the executioner of the beheaded teacher: Faruq Shami, pseudo-jou

“I beheaded the teacher, there I am going to do jihad in France.

"On October 16, at 4:58 pm, Abdoullakh Anzorov hastily recorded this audio message with his Samsung phone and then sent it to an Instagram account whose pseudonym is" Dnevnik_71 ".

The young terrorist of Chechen origin, who came from Evreux (Eure) to assassinate Samuel Paty at the end of his college in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines), attaches a photo of the severed head of his victim as well as a screenshot of claiming his crime on Twitter.

" God is great !

May the peace, the mercy and the blessing of Allah be on you, ”replies his interlocutor in Cyrillic script.

The 18-year-old did not have time to read the messages: he was chased by the Bac de Conflans police officers before being shot dead during a clash a few minutes later.

According to our information, investigations have since identified the mysterious correspondent of Anzorov.

This is a man named Faruq Shami, a jihadist who is said to be from Tajikistan, a former Soviet colony in Central Asia.

With the particularity that this young man with a chubby face, very active on social networks, passes himself off as an independent reporter who covers the activity of jihadist groups in Syria.

On a professional-looking website, Faruq Shami publishes reports, interviews and duplex videos on the daily life of the fighters who fight against the Syrian regime and the international coalition or that of the local populations undermined by the war.

Media jihad

In fact, this pseudo-journalist is himself an active member of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a jihadist organization formerly affiliated with Al-Qaeda which reigns in Idlib, in northwestern Syria.

According to a police report from the anti-terrorism sub-directorate (Sdat), Faruq Shami plays a "role in the media jihad and in the propaganda of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham".

For several years, the group has taken advantage of the decline of Daesh to consolidate its domination in the region.

Behind his multiple professional accounts and his immersion reports presented as objectives, it appears that Faruq Shami conversed with radicalized young people in France, including Abdullakh Anzorov, and gave them advice on religion or jihad using anonymous Instagram accounts.

Like the famous "Dnevnik_71", to whom Anzorov sent his final message.

This account was created in September 2020 with a Romanian phone number, and under the username "Dnevnik_idliba" whose translation into Russian means "The Idlib Diary".

According to data shared by the US FBI with French police, the last IP connections for this account were all located in this Syrian city.

The young Chechen terrorist sent the photo of Samuel Paty's assassination to an Instagram account with the pseudonym "Dnevnik_71".

At a minimum, Faruq Shami would have been the confidant of the executioner of Samuel Paty during his radicalization, if not his advisor or his inspirer.

Investigators discovered that the bogus reporter had published on September 13, 2020, a month before the Conflans attack, a video on Facebook calling Ramzan Kadyrov, the president of Chechnya, "to send brothers to France" on the sidelines of the republication of the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad by Charlie Hebdo.

"You have a month's deadline, if nothing happens with them, Charlie Hebdo, and if none of the people of Kadyrov shout over there 'Akhmet Sila' (

'Ahkmet is the force', a reference to the father of Kadyrov, ex-Chechen president, editor's note

), you will be among the last of the morons.

Remember these words.

Could Abdoullakh Anzorov have been influenced by this video?

Mystery.

A nickname that refers to the caliber of a Soviet heavy machine gun

On November 3, investigators arrested in Haute-Marne Ismail G., a young man of 18 years of Chechen origin.

Virtual friend of Anzorov, he is suspected of having encouraged him to take action and of having also considered committing an attack after the assassination of the professor.

He was also chatting with Faruq Shami on Instagram.

While in custody, he explained that he and Anzorov came into contact with the pseudo-reporter while researching HTS, a group that fascinated his friend.

"I thought he was a journalist at the beginning but in his photos he was in uniform and carrying weapons," Ismail G. confides to the police.

Faruq said it was necessary to unite without further clarification.

He was Tajik I think, he speaks Russian.

(...) I think Anzorov often spoke to Faruq.

The young Chechen, who admits to having understood that the real activities of his interlocutor were terrorist and not journalistic, would have asked him "what had to be done" to accomplish his "hijra" (

) in Syria.

"To have good faith", Faruq Shami reportedly replied.

Ismail G. was indicted and imprisoned.

The investigation reveals that Abdullakh Anzorov was also linked to a second jihadist in Syria on Instagram.

Using the pseudonym "12.7X108", a reference to the caliber of a Soviet heavy machine gun, this Russian speaker would be a "sniper" (

Editor's note: sniper

) who evolves in the same group as Faruq Shami within HTS.

According to information provided by the FBI, the killer of Samuel Paty had inquired from him about the legality of death as a martyr with religious texts barely a month before the attack.

He worried that it might be considered suicide.

"I want to fight"

"Many sheiks and scientists allow it," replied the jihadist.

It is clearly not comparable to suicide.

It's just that scientists differ in the number of enemies you can lead the martyr against ”.

Anzorov had also asked him if it was difficult "to cross the Turkish Syrian border".

"I want to do hijra in the way of Allah (...) I want to fight," he insisted, explaining that his father threatened to deny him if he left the family home.

“You need patience and money,” his interlocutor retorted.

In April 2020, Anzorov also sent a message on Instagram to a certain Abdullah Kostekskiy, a man presented as the supreme judge of Sharia in the emirate of the Caucasus.

Being "afraid for his faith", he had once again told her of his desire to do his "hijra", this time in Afghanistan.

Obviously, Anzorov finally gave up his plan to emigrate to a Muslim country to wage jihad in France, using the controversy over Samuel Paty's course as a pretext.

If the investigations do not allow at this stage to implicate a sponsor, the numerous contacts of the killer with jihadists in Syria raise questions about the lack of detection of his radicalization.
