Child psychiatrist, Dr Laurence Thibault is responsible for the Early Medico-Social Action Center (Camsp) of the Center of Excellence for Neurodevelopmental Disorders at the Tours hospital.
This care and research service, which receives children under the age of six, specializes in neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism.

- How was care organized in your department during the Covid crisis?

Our ways of doing things have been shaken up for a year.
The mask is of course worn by all healthcare professionals.
We were also forced to laminate or remove uncleanable items, such as lint, which cleaned up an environment that is normally designed to build trust.
We had to give up blowing our bubblers, objects that we use a lot to attract the attention of children.
When the mask is too restrictive, we keep a distance behind a plexiglass pane.
