The number of patients with Covid-19 in intensive care remains high on Wednesday with 3,918 people hospitalized in these services - the same figure as the day before - including 343 admitted in the last 24 hours.
These are levels similar to those experienced by the resuscitation services at the end of November.
In total, hospitals had 24,969 patients sick with Covid-19, against 25,201 on Tuesday.
The admissions figure for the last 24 hours was 1,574 compared to 1,810 the day before.
The large number of patients received in intensive care prompted the Hauts-de-France Regional Health Agency (ARS) to announce on Wednesday
"currently working on the organization of
transfers of patients
in critical care to Belgian health establishments",
the first abroad for this new wave of the epidemic.
“These transfers will concern Belgian border hospitals, usual partners of French hospitals within the framework of cross-border agreements. They could be organized as early as "Wednesday" or in the coming days depending on the available reception capacities, the eligibility of patients and the agreement of the families "
, specified the ARS in a press release.
The Hauts-de-France had not resorted to such transfers abroad since November, when
“a few patients”
, according to the ARS, had been sent to Germany, to the hospital in Münster.
