String of scooter offenses.
An electric scooter driver, whose maximum authorized speed is normally set at 25 km / h, was checked in Lons-le-Saunier (Jura) at 57 km / h, police said on Friday.
The 49-year-old driver of the two-wheeler was positive for cannabis and was wearing headphones.
He was arrested and his scooter confiscated.
The vehicle was traveling "in the middle of the road while a cycle lane exists at this location," reported the Jura national police on its Facebook page.
The driver was "also reproached for wearing a headset on the ears, thus cutting him off from the noise of his surroundings".
Up to 1500 euros fine
“A single procedure has been opened for all of these offenses,” Division Commander Patrick Fournier told AFP.
The fine for driving an EDPM (Motorized Personal Displacement Vehicle) whose maximum speed by construction is greater than 25 km / h can go up to 1,500 euros.

Champs-Elysées: the danger of electric scooter rodeos, under laughing gas
"We could laugh about it, except that the news regularly reminds us of the bodily consequences of the improper use of these machines which belong to the category of EDPM, with hoverboards, gyropods or other monowheels", notes the police on Facebook.
“While fun and enjoyable, their use must be done in compliance with the elementary rules of prudence”.
