According to the European Medicines Agency Ema, the benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine continue to outweigh the risk.
A connection with very rare, special thromboses cannot be ruled out.
However, this would be offset by the significantly greater dangers posed by Covid-19.
According to the agency, people who want to be vaccinated should be informed about the possibility of such dangerous clots.
The recommendation is based on a decision by the so-called Pharmacovigilance Committee, or PRAC for short.
It meets when potential complications arise with an approved vaccine or drug.
The committee includes representatives from all EU countries and independent experts appointed by the EU Commission.
Its recommendations apply across Europe.
Germany, among others, recently suspended vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine after a possible connection with rare cerebral vein thrombosis became known.
According to the Federal Ministry of Health, 13 such cases have now been registered in Germany in connection with the vaccination.
Three of those affected died.
According to the Paul Ehrlich Institute, measured against the 1.6 million vaccine doses administered, only one case was actually to be expected.
