The joint appearance was eagerly awaited in advance, some said that the health minister and the health minister of the heart would meet: on Friday at the weekly press conference Jens Spahn (CDU) and Karl Lauterbach (SPD) together assessed the current situation in the Corona- Pandemic.
Both were pessimistic.
RKI Vice President Lars Schaade also spoke of the fact that Germany is once again experiencing exponential growth in the number of cases.
Spahn advocates an earlier start of vaccinations in general practitioners' practices.
The health ministers of the federal states had suggested starting with April 19 at the latest.
"I wouldn't mind if we could start in the family doctor's practice earlier," says Spahn.
He warned against further easing the current measures.
It is clear that testing and vaccination alone do not help to slow down the increase in incidence numbers.
"It could be that we cannot open any further, but take steps backwards," says Spahn.
SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach is also calling for openings to be withdrawn in view of the exponentially increasing number of infections.
"We have to go back to lockdown," he says.
This must be implemented as quickly as possible.
Based on the current figures, Germany will again have more than 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days by mid-April.
In addition to the incidence of 200, there will also be an overload of the intensive care units.
He also demands that all travelers have to be tested on their return.
