Söder

warns of change in mood in the country

8:35 a.m

.: The CSU chairman Markus Söder has warned the Union of an emerging

mood of change in

view of falling polls.

“The situation is very serious.

The corona numbers are increasing and the Union values are falling, "said Söder of" Bild am Sonntag ".

"There is a mood of change in the country." There is no longer a subscription from the Union to the chancellorship.

The Union must show that it still has strength and ideas.

Now a departure is needed.

The downward trend in the Union continues in the Sunday trend that the Kantar polling institute collects for "Bild am Sonntag".

The CDU and CSU lose two percentage points compared to the previous week and now come to 25 percent.

In mid-January, the Union was still 36 percent in the Sunday trend.

The SPD does not benefit from the weakness of its coalition partner in the federal government and remains unchanged at 17 percent.

According to the information, the Greens are only two points behind the Union with 23 percent.

AfD and FDP both come to ten percent, the left reaches nine percent.

Lauterbach calls for tougher measures

8:31 a.m

.: SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach has called for rigid measures to contain the third corona wave in order to prevent a victim record in this country of well over 100,000 deaths.

"We have to stay well below 100,000 dead," said the German government's corona advisor to the Berlin newspaper Tagesspiegel.

So far, around 76,000 people have died in Germany after a corona infection.

Lauterbach called for a quick new Corona summit, which would have to resolve a nationwide night curfew for at least two weeks.

In addition, the health politician called for a stop of the model projects planned for the time after Easter, in which the corona restrictions are to be relaxed.

»No openings, no model projects.

We don't need Jugend forscht now, ”warned Lauterbach.

In particular, Lauterbach criticized the Saarland's approach, where there should be nationwide easing, in the Tagesspiegel as “lacking in solidarity”.

"They received additional doses of the vaccine there because they are in the border region and that is where the South African mutant spreads," emphasized Lauterbach.

The planned openings are "but also of unsound solidarity, because we destroy our entire message with them."

People urgently need to reduce contacts.

In addition to further restrictions to contain the corona death rate,

Lauterbach

called for the

time between the first and second vaccination to be extended to three months.

He considers the Biontech / Pfizer corona vaccine "twelve weeks to be justifiable, even if it goes beyond the actual approval interval."

With the AstraZeneca corona vaccine, the interval between the first and second vaccination has already been increased to twelve weeks.

Head of the Chancellery Braun hopes for a summer vacation

8:28 a.m.:

Chancellery chief Helge Braun assumes that the infection situation will relax in May and that travel will be possible again from August.

"I expect that the relieving effect of the vaccination and the start of the warm season in May will be noticeable," said the CDU politician of the "Bild am Sonntag".

The first positive effects will be seen at Pentecost, provided that the situation does not get out of hand by then.

“I think it's realistic that trips will be possible again in August,” says Braun.

However, given the current developments, Easter leave is not justifiable.

Incidence in Germany rises to just under 130

8:20 a.m.:

The seven-day incidence in Germany continues to rise.

Most recently, the value of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), was 129.7, as shown by figures from Sunday morning.

This means that the value is almost as high as it has not been since January 19 (131.5).

The data reflect the status of the RKI dashboard from 7.35 a.m., subsequent changes or additions to the RKI are possible.

On Saturday the RKI had given the incidence as 124.9, on Friday it was 119.1.

The value is an important key figure for the course of the pandemic.

A week ago it had passed the 100 mark.

After the number of new infections fell significantly in lockdown by around mid-February, the number of infections recently rose sharply again - which experts also attribute to the widespread spread of more contagious variants.

The health authorities in Germany reported 17,176 cases to the RKI within one day.

The last 90 deaths were recorded within 24 hours.

Exactly one week ago, 13,733 new infections and 99 deaths were reported within one day.

On Sundays, the number of cases reported by the RKI is usually lower, partly because fewer tests are carried out on the weekend.

The high of 1,244 newly reported deaths was reached on January 14th.

Among the new infections registered within 24 hours, the highest value was reached on December 18, at 33,777 - but it contained 3,500 late reports.

According to the RKI situation report on Saturday evening, the nationwide seven-day R-value was 1.19 (previous day 1.14).

This means that 100 infected people infect an additional 119 people.

The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.
