THE QUESTION
.
"
We must not be dogmatic
" on the question of GMOs.
The former Minister of Ecology François de Rugy wants to break a "
taboo
" by calling on March 23 on BFM Business for a debate on the cultivation of genetically modified organisms.
“
Genetic research has evolved a lot,” he
explains on the economic news channel.
When we had the first GMOs, notably Monsanto's corn, it was a corn that incorporated genes that did not come from the plant world.
Today, genetic research makes it possible to have a varietal selection, that is to say selected from the same variety
".
According to him, these new techniques would make it possible to solve many ecological problems, in particular to reduce the use of pesticides.
Are
these “
new GMOs
” the solution to putting an end to pesticides, with a limited impact on the environment?
