The prototype is charming but, next year will we see the Ford Bronco counterattack?

Which of them would you take to Afikoman?

The annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari Jeep Show is a sacred American tradition, interrupted in 2020 due to the Corona plague.

This year, the iconic manufacturer made do with showcasing four all-new jeeps and recycling gladiators that have already been unveiled in Moab, a sign of the immense popularity of the American van we recently tested.

Moab's display jeeps are not designed to reach serial production but they outline the direction in which America's mighty aftermarket industry will move.

Some of the prototypes on display do not deviate from professional workshop work, but one of them is a real breakthrough in the electric Magneto.

Jeep Wrangler Magneto 4Xe

The Jeep Magneto is a prototype that showcases Jeep's original concept for electrifying the iconic Wrangler.

The electric propulsion unit was implanted in the body of a short JK Wrangler, painted in charming shades of blue and white, with a tarpaulin cover (rolled up, of course), and no doors.

A dream of a jeep.

Preceded by the introduction of the Magneto 4Xe hybrid-rechargeable version, which was introduced several months ago.

The Magneto has an electric motor with a power of 281 hp and a torque of 37 kg;

These figures are similar to those of the traditional Pentstar engine, and are lower than the recently introduced diesel engine data.

The point is that electric power is immediately available and at every RPM, this is a huge advantage for rock climbing. It is implied that the magneto will accelerate from standstill to 100 km / h in about 7.0 seconds, very fast.

The 70 kilowatt / hour battery consists of four sub-batteries, which are installed in the corners of the jeep;

This improves the weight distribution of the jeep, and improves its off-road behavior.

The range should reach 220 kilometers, with the help of the name and a bit of wind.

More original is the gearbox;

Instead of an automatic transmission, the Magneto has 6 manual transmissions.

Jeep engineers claim that regenerative charging (while engine braking) is several times more efficient, with manual transmission.

Another advantage is that there is no need to use a clutch, as the electric motor can accelerate itself from 0 rpm. However, they do not rule out the possibility of an automatic magneto, of course. It has been suggested that it may reach serial production as early as next year.

Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Red Bare

The red gladiator is designed for rock climbing and is equipped - finally - with a three-liter eco-boost diesel engine and a V6 configuration, with an 8-speed gearbox that can be adjusted for low-speed gear changes. For a slow and controlled crawl, the transmission ratio is shorter than usual, 91: 1. The live axles are Dana 44 tough, with full-surface tires with a diameter of 37 inches.

The display vehicle has a loading arch that also serves as a rollover arch, 'half' doors that make it easier to look out, and it is painted in shocking red.

The seats and dashboard are upholstered in red-black squares, a Scottish-looking touch.

Two iron fenders, a Warren winch and full shields, complete the combat specs.

The original Jeepster (Photo: Manufacturer's website)

In stark contrast to the future-looking Magneto, the gilded Jeepster sucks its appearance from the roots of the past, a 1968 vintage C-101.

The Jeep boasts a supercharged 2.0-liter engine whose power has been increased to 340 hp, about 25% more than the serial engine power.

Longing for the triangular windows (Photo: Manufacturer's website)

The 8-speed gearbox is automatic, of course, and the Jeep locks 35-inch tires.

There are only two front seats, upholstered in red leather.

There are no floor mats, in favor of washing the sand in a water pipe.

I loved the front triangular windows, a romantic homage to the air-conditioned Sixties cars.

Jeep Wrangler Orange Peelz

The short wrangler is painted orange, inlaid with matte black stickers.

It wears 37-inch belly tires and a 2-inch body lift (hey, it can be tested in Israel), but the creativity appears above the waistline.

There are stylish 'half' doors, and a hardtop roof covering two innovations: no rear window (what is it good for?), And the two front parts of the detachable roof have been replaced with one large, transparent window.

37-inch tires and moderate elevation (Photo: Manufacturer's website)

This structure puts sunlight into the cabin, allowing free observation of the surrounding mountain peaks.

This is a great configuration for winter hikers who do not want to freeze in the cold (or eat dust).

Massive metal bumpers improve Peelz durability in Rubicon boulders (we've already forgotten that there is such a track in California).

In case you fail to finish the route in daylight hours, a pair of 5-inch LED headlights will light your way.

In my humble opinion, the transparent roof may be a hysterical sales hit.

The Top Dog is a recycled version from last year, but one that is fun to meet again (Photo: Manufacturer's website)

Jeep Gladiator Top Dog

The Blue Gladiator with a closed box was unveiled at the end of last year, and today it is showing up at the Easter Festival in Moab.

Despite the deceptive 'renovation box', this is a very serious adventure vehicle.

The box is mounted directly on the chassis, in the style common in Australian UTE vehicles.

It has seagull wings that allow easy access to the depths of the crate, and pull-out drawers.

There is a large fridge and a net for grilling steaks and hot dogs - now we understand where the strange name of this gladiator came from.

We will also not oppose the Farout travel van (Photo: Manufacturer's website)

Bicycle rails are installed on the crate, with an aluminum ladder hidden inside the crate.

The flat roof over the cabin awaits a roof tent, a large spare tire seals the Australian look.

On the mechanical side we find 37-inch tires with hand-look rims, and there are two winches - front and rear.

There is snorkeling, threshold protectors, outdoor LED lighting, but only the standard Pentstar engine.

The 285 hp engine is a bit weak on the clumsy Top Dog, but I would not object to taking it for a few laps of Israel.

Jeep returns to the Moab display two models that have already been shown in the past;

The Farout travel van comes this year with a diesel engine suitable for the task, with a range of close to 700 kilometers.

Also redesigned is the Wrangler Rubicon 392 armed with a 6.4-liter V8 470 hp HEMI engine, this is the most powerful Wrangler ever to come off the Jeep production lines.
