Korean American

Hyundai, which is known in the provinces of our country as the Korean manufacturer that knows how to produce for the Israeli market exactly what it likes (ie vehicles that meet the needs of the Israeli mainstream), aligns a very different and surprising impression here.

This is what a lot of people will feel when they come across a Hyundai Paliside.

More from Overdrive >>>

It is 1,975 mm wide, 4,980 mm long and 1,750 mm high and weighs 1,986 kg, has 20 גל wheels and a price that starts at around 320,000 NIS.

While not all of these are exceptional dimensions in the category, it is even smaller than the Ford Explorer for comparing sizes but something in the design of the vehicle along with these dimensions makes it appear very large and stand out on the road.

The exterior design of the palisade creates a mature, not old but definitely mature and even a respectable touch of feeling.

The front grille is large and impressive as well as the front and rear lighting units are definitely suitable for the car and continue the same design line of modern lines.

Inside the center console is high and large and creates a real barrier between the two front seats and is paved with very large physical buttons.

These include the gear selector and travel modes (4 road and 3 terrain), I feel a bit reminiscent of the phone you buy for grandparents that will be easy for them to dial.

The quality of the materials is good but not at the level of the European premium and the chairs are supportive and comfortable even after hours of driving.

There is an 8 מ multimedia system with connectivity to Android Auto (made us trouble) and Apple Carfly and a 7 וני colored dashboard.

We got the oldest version of the Paliside, Limited 4X4.

First of all the first two rows consist of four captain seats each of which can be set up with separate air conditioning, heating and cooling seats, USB ports everywhere you look and of course American-sized cup holders.

The third row is less comfortable for adults but still offers those adults a reasonable space.

There are two windows in the roof, there are air conditioner outlets in the ceiling to the second row, electric trunk, the seats fold electrically at the push of a button, under the floor of the trunk hides another extensive compartment.

When all the seats are open the trunk contains 311 liters, which is relatively a lot for a situation where all the seats are open.

If we fold the rear seats, we get 704 liters.

The air conditioner has an air filtration system, the option to move remotely through the remote control and more and more.

In the field of safety systems, too, there is everything that the Israeli public knows from Hyundai's offerings in Israel, and that is basically: autonomous braking, active lane keeping, a warning of a vehicle in "dead space", adaptive cruise control and more.

The heart that is supposed to move all this mass works on gasoline and comes in a volume of 3.8 liters, atmospheric in a V6 configuration that is mated to an 8-speed planetary gearbox.

All this amounts to 291 hp at 6,000 rpm and 36.2 kg at 5,200 rpm.

The power goes either to the four wheels or to the front depending on the level of finish and in practice it will take you 7.8 seconds (7.7 in front-wheel drive) to reach 100 km / h from standstill and a maximum speed of 210 km / h.

In the current era it is very refreshing to get an old-fashioned American-style engine, without superchargers and without spells, simply an atmospheric V-shaped engine that works smoothly and linearly that is very pleasant to operate and also enjoy the sound that emanates when you reach the engine RPM.

On the road the Paliside did what it was designed to do and that is to cruise comfortably and quietly.

In the city the Paliside manages to deal with most of the city's hazards but with very severe disruptions a real bang sound penetrated into the cabin.

Another point regarding driving in a city that is really, really crowded on the small streets with the Felicide.

On the highway the Felicide manages to iron out and deal with bumpy roads.

The noise isolation is effective and the Fleside cruises at the speed of a highway while the engine maintains about 2,000 rpm and with the exception of a few wind noises that manage to penetrate, the Fleside managed to provide a calm and quiet driving experience.

The fear began to rise as soon as we approached it, how would this giant cope with the change of direction?

Paliside was pleasantly surprised by his road behavior.

The behavior is fluent and considered, and as long as size and weight are given consideration, one can even hurry with it very safely and efficiently.

The model tested comes with a terrain mode selector that includes mud, snow and sand.

The Paliside visited us in the Kallamadi area and managed to cope mainly thanks to the large engine, but because of the Paliside's ventral spacing there is no real space capability here.

The Hyundai Paliside is a large and impressive recreational vehicle.

It manages to provide a very good package that includes a powerful engine, internal space, rich instrumentation and luxurious comfort most of the time.

It's a welcome addition to the large and expandable recreational vehicle segment - for those who need a lot of space, in the guise of a recreational vehicle, it will surely create appeal.

The main disadvantage here is the fuel consumption given the hybrid alternatives that exist in this category.
