The victim, then in his forties, had been "raped several times" and "beaten", at the exit of a nightclub in Bayonne, in the early morning of October 3, 2009, according to the commissioner- divisional Stéphane Lapeyre, head of the Bayonne branch of the PJ.
That night, the young woman had been approached by two men, alcoholic, near the establishment from which she had been turned away.
The bouncers had just used tear gas to disperse a crowd.
"She was inconvenienced, and they offered to bring her home," the head of the PJ in Bayonne told AFP.
She had actually been taken out of sight, on the banks of the nearby river, the Nive, where raped and beaten, she had been left "unconscious for nearly two hours".
His face bore traces of "a dozen fractures," according to Commissioner Lapeyre.

But the case bounced back a few months ago when the elder of the two men was taken into custody in a case of intra-family violence.
His DNA is collected and entered in the national DNA file (Fnaeg).

From there, the Bayonne judicial police seized at the end of 2017 continued the investigations to identify accomplices.
And arrested Monday and Tuesday four people, two people who will be exonerated and the two alleged perpetrators.
"They acknowledged their participation in the facts by giving fairly specific elements", according to Stéphane Lapeyre.
