Although the smartphone market is full of different models from existing manufacturers, it is ultimately dominated by three major players: Samsung, Apple and Shiomi.

The one that recently entered the local playground is OPPO, whose first smartphone here is designed to compete with the cheaper smartphones on the market, such as: Shiomi, realme (belonging to the same corporation to which OPPO is associated) and Samsung.

The A93 model is sold under a favorable price tag of NIS 1,200.

Design: thin and light

The A93 weighs only 164 grams, which is much less than the weight of many smartphones that go on the market today.

Its thickness is 7.5 mm, so together with the rough back, you get a smartphone that is comfortable to hold in the hand. The body of the device is made of plastic, which gives it a slightly cheap feeling, on the other hand, it is what contributes to the low weight. When the light is refracted on it you get a slightly pinkish tint.OPPO also incorporated a thick stripe along the entire length of the top, which is lighter than the rest of the back. The device kit gets a transparent cover, which will help you keep this smartphone.

Screen in Super AMOLED technology

It's always fun to find a screen with Super AMOLED technology on a smartphone with an accessible price tag.

This is a 6.43-inch screen with a 1080 resolution of 2400 pixels and a backlight of 800 rivets at its peak.

In terms of image refresh rate, this is only 60 Hz and not a faster rate.

This is a screen that tends to the richer shade (not very).

At this price level, this is a monitor that provides good and relatively sharp results.

The body-screen ratio stands at 84.5% thanks to the thin edges and front cameras that appear in a small slot.

Indeed, the lower margin, slightly thick.

Interface: Android 11

OPPO took care to equip the A93 with Android 11, with its ColorOS interface on it.

I'll start with something that upset me in this case, although OPPO allows you to select the interface with an app drawer, but it still throws all the apps to the home pages as well, which just creates an obscure mess.

Beyond that, there are nice options in the interface, such as: "Edge lighting" that appears on all sides of the screen when an alert is received, selecting different formats in "Always On" display mode, "Smart sidebar", it allows you to place favorite apps and run Two apps on a split screen.

A split screen can also be entered by sliding three fingers from the bottom of the screen.

By the way, something else annoying with the device occurred in its connection to the Sony system in my vehicle.

The system itself supports Android AUTO and apart from realme smartphones, I do not think I encountered a problem with it.

Here, too, a connection of the A93 bounced a message that there is no USB support.

Hardware: No NFC and no 5th generation

NFC technology has become a necessity in smartphones in recent months, as it is designed for users who want to turn their device into a credit card.

For some reason, OPPO waived this option in the model it released here.

Also, you will not find 5th generation here, in addition to the lack of support for WiFi Calling.

What you will get in the A93, is Mediatek's Helio P95 processor that comes with 8 GB of working memory and 128 GB of storage, including the option of expansion via card.

In terms of performance, the smartphone overall responds well, it is not a very fast device, but it also does not mess up.

The fingerprint sensor is located below the screen, it is not the fastest sensor there is, but it does detect the finger most of the time.

To A93 loudspeakers, strong but with limited quality, as well as get here input 3.5mm wired headset and Bluetooth 5.1.

In terms of battery performance, not surprising to find that the A93 easily hold a full day. Using my smartphone had seven in the morning And until close to midnight, when I had another 33% energy left (screen time close to 4 hours) .The battery itself comes with a capacity of 4000 mAh. Half an hour 47% It's not bad at all.

Camera: Dual selfie camera

The A93 has a 4-sensor photo array: a 48-megapixel main sensor with autofocus and an f / 1.7 aperture key, an 8-megapixel (119-degree) wide sensor with f / 2.2 and two more 2-megapixel depth sensors with f / 2.4.

For the use of 48 megapixel resolution, a manual setting must be made, which of course contributes to the sharpness.

In daylight these are not bad images, but one has to understand the limitations in their sharpness and that the results are sometimes a bit dark.

In enclosed spaces, even those with natural lighting, you still get a mediocre experience.

The selfie camera includes two 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel (depth) sensors with f / 2.4.

Despite the two sensors, these are only reasonable images, which while providing some level of clean image, still feel the lack of detail.

The device uses by default the beauty mechanism which creates a certain smear on the face.

The device category is crowded, and Oppo's offer is not necessarily the most affordable

Bottom line, the A93 sits on a loaded device category, while on the one hand it offers a good screen with Super AMOLED technology, a slim and lightweight design and a battery that lasts more easily than an entire day.

On the other hand, the lack of NFC and lack of support in Generation 5, can interfere with some users who will consider purchasing it.

Price: NIS 1,200 (official Ronlite importer)
