A network specializing in the trafficking of weapons and bulletproof vests, in particular with the “police” logo, was dismantled in the Lyon region, with eight people indicted, including five imprisoned, the gendarmerie announced on Saturday.
More than 200,000 € were seized, as well as eight vehicles, eleven firearms, thousands of ammunition and 400 bulletproof vests, including one hundred bearing the words "police", the same source said.
Following an investigation started in 2018 by the Research Section (SR) of Lyon, and the opening of a judicial investigation in May 2019, five people were first arrested on January 25, 2020. Three were arrested. were indicted and two imprisoned, according to a press release from the national gendarmerie.
Then, on June 30, 2020, six individuals performing “logistics” functions within this network were questioned.
Three are indicted and two are imprisoned.
Finally, on March 30, three people were arrested.
